Our county fair begins tomorrow. Being a 4H family, we will haul a couple market hogs and a horse for reining competition. We are also involved in 4H Shooting Sports and will have a booth to maintain. Yea...its a lot of work, but quite satisfying to see all the youth with their projects.
I never knew 4H shooting existed when I was younger. It has been around in Ohio for nearly 30 years. My son quickly signed up and, you guessed it...I became an instructor to help out.
Just curious which county program you are working with as I have been asked to help with our county 4H shooting club and was strongly considering doing it. Really excited about the scholastics steel challenge that they are going to implement.
We are located in Guernsey County and have a good group of kids. We are very active and had two members go to the 2015 4H Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island Nebraska. Our club is very interested in the scholastic steel and rifle program. I am going to Canters Cave (Jackson Ohio) in October to be a certified instructor. I like working with the youth, but I'm really having fun too!
Man that stinks I was going to go to the October training but I couldn't make it work with my work schedule. That would have been a blast to meet up there. Oh by the way we would be in the Athens county club.
Maybe at the Spring workshop? I have already been certified in pistol and rifle, now scholastic steel. Maybe do advanced pistol next?? Our club has sent an invite to all 4Hclubs located in ODNR District 4 for a competition shoot in October. We haven't had many responses and may post-pone until Spring 2016...Stay tuned for more info
