It is a rare occasion to have the tv on here. I keep it for my daughter-in-law who watches it when they are here. I used to watch a few football play-off games and the Super bowl but don't even do that any more. The stupid thing sits there to see how much dust it is able to collect. Actually through my lifetime I have rarely watched it. I was 12 when my folks got one but even then I rarely watched it. No tv when I got married but we had other things we enjoyed rather that watching tv.
I sort of do. I still have one. I couldn't tell you the last time it had modern programming shown on it. I use it to stream some TV shows I like that are older. Top Gear is a favorite as are the Alone series. Amazon app on the Playstation is it's only outside connection. I guess it has been used to view the 'newer' stuff from the Top Gear boys as The Grand Tour. That'd be my most (and only) current stuff watched. I have abhored commercials since around the Millenia. When commercials started to appear on previously uninterupted stations, I basically lost all interest. IFC used to be a favorite of mine, then they started having advertising.
I guess this is 'current' as well...sortof. I happened upon this guy on Amazon and got hooked. Life on a Narrowboat on the canals of the British Waterways. I grew up boating and could totally fall into a life as such. He has a Series on Amazon, but continues to upload to Youtube now that his deal with Bezos is done.
reception in my area is iffy at best so don't watch it much. Do not have internet at home and other subscription services are few choice wise all way over priced. plus the commercials are generally 50 %of the allotted time for a movie i think i would like which is annoying. got a dvd player so sometimes toss a movie in that. at least with that if i snooze off i can go back to what i last remember.
We hardly watch TV shows, news, etc.. I tried to find my by way back to sports a bit after the whole social justice nonsense and I occasionally watch but it will never been with the same passion I once had. Now I do like to chill out and watch a good movie from time to time so I would surely miss that part. But I think I'd quickly adjust.
Don't be yelling at me if you get hooked. lol I find it very enjoyable. He does some cooking later that I can take or leave. I did learn how to make Toad In The Hole though. I seriously could be a wanderer on those canals. 2000+ miles of them, I think. Much of which is in beautiful countryside. He runs across a couple of Honesty Boxes while travelling. My kind of locality.
There are a few shows I will watch with my wife or sons. For the most part it stays off. Anything we want to watch we stream. If there is a series we want to watch, we subscribe for a month, then cancel.
We (the wife and I) watch Shark Tank on Fridays, and stream a movie on Sunday evening. That is all we watch in a typical week. And then there is Gonzaga basketball, we watch that in season. We never just turn on the TV to "see what is on," no interest. We never watch the news.
I built an antenna and live close enough to Seattle to get all tv for free plus we buy Netflix. We watch lots of tv, especially in the winter when it’s dark at 4pm. Couple hours a night at least. I’m an 80s kid and we were raised watching TV and playing video games.
Years ago my tv died and about a month later I was offered a chance to go hunting in Alaska. Called the cable company the next Monday and cancelled. Did just fine without it for over a decade. Met a woman who eventually became my wife, a couple years after getting a bigger house we got a tv. She watches it way more than I think is necessary. It’s hooked to the net, so Netflix and I’m not sure what else. We will usually find a series of something and I’ll watch an episode or two with supper. I honestly could do fine without it at all.
It is a long, cold winter here that passes quicker for a senior citizen with some disability issues. I watch sports, especially college football, baseball and the odd fishing show. Spend most of my time watching a few favorite vlogs on You Tube and listening to music. Can't stand movies and things like Netflix and "canned" television in general
I went to a Christian Youth convention last summer as a youth sponsor. Afterwords, I felt called to make some changes. Around the end of July I decided no TV for a year. I do miss a few shows but I can live without it. I don't really miss sports, I never watched much anyway. I have read a lot of books since; and, try to read the Bible every day. I have really enjoyed reading. I have made more time to spend with the youth at church and invest in their lives. The downside is I do spend more time on my phone, reading news mostly; I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. My advice would be to try living without it for a month or 2, then decide if you really need it or not. Here are some books I have read: The Hobbit 1984 Oliver Twist A Wrinkle in Time If you want to walk on water you have to get out of the boat. Fahrenheit 451 The Lord of the Flies Currently reading The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank
Trip of a Lifetime! Didn’t get my moose, but went back 2 years later and settled the score. I still want to live up there. I get pretty envious when Rope posts pictures
I think I could live without it. I mainly watch old western movies, Gunsmoke., (something I said I would never do ) college football, and older shows like King of Queens. I couldn't tell you any primetime shows on CBS, ABC, or NBC. Wife watches the 100 stinking Hallmark channels. Im trying to cut the cable tie. I literally may just watch 5 channels. My sons don't watch any tv. All internet
