    I’ve burned plenty of cottonwood. Splits nicely. Dries pretty quickly from my experience. I don’t seek it out but if I come across it, I’ll process it.

    I have a few logs I set aside that I plan to cut and split and stack as soon as I can. Probably will end up needing it next year so I hope it drys quick. Sure feels like once it’s split it will.

    I'm assuming from the comments so far that Cottonwood is similar to Basswood. I've burned a lot of Basswood over the years. Shoulder season and stretching the woodpile.

    Yes. Basswood hand splits like a dream, cottonwood not so much.

    Lots of cottonwood available where i live. Most folks dont burn it. However i would take cottonwood over white fir any day. We have a liitle bit of engleman spruce in the forest here, i have never cut any.
