While my original is off the cuff, personally I believe they are not giving us all the information. Whether you are right and it's as simple as the numbers from China are undercut, or there is much more to this than meets the eye.

Today Disney announced the closure of Disney World and Disney Land Paris starting on the 15th of March for the rest of the month. "Disney Cruise Line will suspend all new departures beginning March 14 through the end of the month, it said."

"Updated 9/11/18. Disneyland has only ever experienced three unexpected closures in its history: the national day of mourning after JFK was killed, the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, and after the terrorist attacks on the United States on 9/11." and just like that the people in power have taken full control of the sheeple.......................................everything shutdown and confined to your home.................................no questions asked.

The average person will be financially devastated, 2-3 weeks no pay. Wait for it, rioting to start shortly, first no gas, then utilities, food,............

"we'' probably don't really want to know all the real story on this situation. The chinese, government, no doubt they are a pretty closed society and why would they want to give us the real numbers of how many are sick, dead, in really bad condition. It would make them look weak. Its no doubt hurting their economy as well as ours, money, (gold) not to mention food, exports and imports, greases the wheels of the economy that would be another weakness. And, many other nations are waiting on the sidelines, like buzzards, waiting to see who caves and rolls over first. The United States has become too fat, complacent, lazy, and reliant on others to do their dirty work and then, sit back and take all the free bee hand outs. . Just my thoughts.

This isn't hysteria. This is people preparing for a pandemic. This is what should have been happening a month ago. The numbers in the news today are the people who got this three weeks ago as the incubation period is two to three weeks. That's two to three weeks of exponential contamination and spreading before the first carriers start showing symptoms. It's not about death percentages, it's about dying a horrible death needing intubation to breathe and the hospitals are full. Sorry, no health care for you. Washing your hands isn't gonna cut it. You need to stay home. For many it is already too late. If we slow down the contamination rate the hospitals might be able to keep up. We've already begun to see what not slowing it down soon enough results in in Italy, China and Iran. China built huge temporary hospitals and couldn't keep up. Do you think any emergency hospitals will get built here ? Good luck with that.

should be as much as two to three weeks.

The context for 4-14 is typical/average
It is what they use for a basis for two weeks of isolation. Two weeks of isolation is not an absolute, it's a typical and average method that has worked in the past so therefore it should suffice in a current case.
Doesn't mean that all the people they've isolated for two weeks not one of them was still infetcious when they were released. They have no means to prove that one way or the other.

They supposedly have kept the virus alive and viable on a stainless steel surface for up to nine days. In a lab. That doesn't mean it lives for nine days on your fridge. Could be less, could be more. Usually a lab environment can stretch/test/prove the extreme. Usually.
