    Nope, never been to Maine.

There was a former member here that had a thing for posting pics of his wife in little red dresses. Never could figure that out.....:picard:

Went to town yesterday. Most everything seemed normal. A few things lacking on grocery shelves but not bad overall. Traffic about normal.

This is a crazy bad hit on the economy, I understand the reasoning on crowds of people not being together but a lot of businesses won't reopen I bet.

And the way the stock market started out this year, I bet there were people thinking of starting a business and finally pulled the trigger.

Now think of all of the retirees or those about to retire that are taking a beating on their retirement. I am thankful that I should have enough time left for my 401k to recover. At least that should be the usual pattern. Kids of retirees are really going need to step up to help them. I did that for my parents in order for them to retire. Which all worked out.

Yup! Which it is so important to confer with your advisor at least annually before you retire to make sure your portfolio is balanced out.

My wife is a fed, they just got ok/directive that they can telework, till April 5th i think. To look at the brightside, she won't have to get up early, wont have to drive 60 miles one way and fight traffic if she doesn't get to leave on time in the afternoon. Plus i wont have to get my little girl up as early, since the mother in law will probably just come to the house in the am's So saving some precious sleep for the ladies, gas and wear and tear on vehicle. Now to just not bring any of the nasty stuff home from my work...

Here's a good read (long) and the rational/math behind all the decisions being made around the world. A couple guys and myself were just talking about this exponential growth.

    and a follow-up:

With everything being shutdown in hopes of containing the virus. The problem is that far too many are ignoring the order of "social distancing". Whether that is because they don't believe it or because they are just selfish. Who knows. These are the people that help keep the virus active longer. Most likely beyond the timeframe of the shutdowns in place today. Which could well result in the spread of the virus in a second wave.

Even when the shutdowns and travel bands do come to an end, we still might not be in the clear. Once flights open up from other countries, we could reintroduce the virus back from an external source if my comments about another round from internal carries does not happen.

Look at the Spanish Flu. At that time, people lived in more geographically sparse locations. Yet 27% (500 million) of the world's population were infected. It lasted from January 1918 until December 1920 with an estimated death toll of 17 million to 50 million worldwide. Wikipedia even notes that it could have been as high as 100 million.

I really get the feeling from people that this shutdown will last until mid-April or possibly May, but after that thing will go back to normal. I don't believe this is going to take the same track as the others we've dealt with like Zika or the Swine, etc. Only time will tell though.

I noticed Tuesday, I had three people with Chinese names apply for handgun carry license. By the end of today, two more had. I think they are worried about backlash from nuts- and there is some nutty behavior to witness.

Some were born in China per their application. Asian is our highest minority in our community.

we have our first positive case in my County, so people will really freak. There are far too many people demanding to be tested for no reason other that they want a false peace of mind. They have no concern how it will strain resources.
