I love every thing about heating with wood BUT I have never bought any. If we had to pay $250-$350 for cord wood I think the propane fireplace would be the only burning here other than the fire pit.

Funny thing is one of our drivers also cuts and sells wood. He is always telling me he would not heat with wood if it was not for all the pine he gets when clearing at lot. He sells all the hardwood at primo prices and heats with the PINE:hair:

I am no longer selling firewood. This year ending in Sept. I was getting $275.00 a cord delivered and dumped. Sold out and believe it was because of last year's cold winter. I do know a guy who provides firewood to Albany County's HEAP (home energy assistance program) clients. He said he could probably hook me up with providing Schenectady County HEAP program. I declined as he runs a tree service and has a Timberwolf T-5 splitter and I only have a T-1. I guess if the government is paying for the firewood it drives the price up. Now there are ad's running on Craigslist for $300.00 a cord here.

I pay the boys with Honeycrisp apples I grow and cookies. They are really good apples though.
I traded running their Cat 277 skid steer for the trucking.

Here is one of the loads last year:

Around $200 a cord. cut and split, mixed hardwoods. Seasoned is closer to $300 if you can find any. Seasoned is one year! Very hard to find any around here. Most all wood is sold as green.
