I take it most people dont enjoy food with its face still attached? My wife hates it we have traded many meals over the years in different countries because the head was still attached.
I've been looking for a goose to cook for Christmas, can't find one locally. My mother used to decorate for Christmas singing "Christmas is coming, the goose is gettin fat"
Hmmm, my local Hanaford in BH looked at me like I had three heads when I asked. I'll have to try a bigger town, I try not to leave the Island, it's scary.
I live in a slightly higher population area and the local Walmart is a Supercenter and Hannaford sometimes tries to keep up. I've never seen one at the local Shaws but haven't actually looked for one there. Just be prepared to spend some dollars, they aren't cheap. http://www.hannaford.com/catalog/se...orm&keyword=Geese&ieDummyTextField=&x=12&y=15 You will have to select a store for this search to return the actual item. According to the North Windham version of the site they have them at $4.99/lb. The North Windham store is the closest Hannaford store to me.
Yep, quite good. Skin wasn't crispy when I pulled it from the pan so I built up and actual fire and threw it back in to blacken it. Red wine and Asian seasonings made it pretty good, and my sweet potato was perfection.
Thanks, found in Ellsworth, and the wife is going shopping when the ice storm clears, prob tomorrow, so I don't have to leave the Island
Just make sure you have a deep pan to cook it in. I was horrified at the amount of grease that came off it the first time I cooked a goose. (no jokes!)
