It’s just algae. It gets full and slowly leaks down the side and that forms. Hit it with the pressure washer and it’s gone. Used to have a hose on there for overflow but honestly don’t remember what happened to it.

Would you be using this setup during the winter or does it fill up with snow?

Here you go giving me ideas! I made a Hillbilly Wok and a base like that cooker would be nice to have it up at standing height and using wood for a heat source. It is made from a disc for tilling fields, if I remember correctly it is 26" in diameter. Screenshot_20211218-211958_Samsung Internet.jpg

Nice work on that discada! I’m thinking something like that would work out great for you. I have a wok I use over my kamado. It works well enough but the fire snuffs out eventually because there’s no exhaust with the wok on there. Usually get whatever I’m cooking done pretty quickly though so it’s not a huge problem. I’ve though about using wok on the soup cooker but it’s too small.

It can be too hot to cook inside. A simple fire or gas flame and a wok is also cultural cooking and usually pretty darn good. You can find a lot of outdoor cooking in Central America, too. Usually the stacks of wood you see are for cooking, not heating.
