I like my Kubota RTV-XG-850. Payload and towing numbers are pretty equivalent to their diesel brethern. 15 mph faster from 0-40, joyriding around the local rural roads is ... well a joy!

I was wondering about their gasser too. Not the 500, yours. No issues? Kubota built engine? Gas hog?

I know the seller. I wish I hadn’t just bought ours. I would have bought his. LOL Although I like the power of the 1100 series that ours is, the 900 series would probably still be enough.

Subaru powered. No reason at all to be concerned there.

Used to be a Subaru engine; Kubota brought it in-house; I don't know when. Mine is a 2021 and is a Subaru AFAIK.

    golf66 , any updates?

I talked to the guy at Mayberry mini
sales last week. Very good chat with him on mini trucks. One of the major things was he said most of the minis with dump beds are ragged out, so much that he doesn't really get any. He has a guy who can convert one to a dump, but that's obviously a bit pricey. He said you can drop tailgate, reverse and hit brakes to unload the wood! Or drop the sides so it rolls off... I chuckled at this....sure, it might could work.

I use mine to haul wood to the basement. Only one time did I use the dump box feature for unloading wood. The whole while I was picking firewood up off the ground due to my wanting to use the dump box to make it "easier". Yeah right. like bending ouver instead of just reaching into the box is easier? :headbang:

I use the dump box for other things.....not firewood.

Just spitballing here, but I bet one of those truck bed load handlers could be modified for a mini truck. We’ve used the dump feature on my FILs utv a total of maybe 2-3 times in the last 5 years. With such a small bed not having the dump feature wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me.

15 years. I dont try to dump big loads with the dump bed. I always pull most of it off so the hoist is not overloaded.

I’d say it has served you well if you’ve been putting loads like that on it for that long. Can’t blame you for not using the dump feature much. Seems like it could result in some immediate regret if you tried to dump the wrong load! I’ll have to keep the mini truck as an option for the future:thumbs:

It has served me very well. I really like the heated cab!!
With a big load, I go slow and ease it back to the house.

I did a video on mini trucks. I agree, they are more capable than most sides by sides, and definitely cheaper.

Does anyone have experience with a JD 6x4 diesel? Found one on Craigslist with the cab. Old enough that the bed is metal. Ad says power dump bed. Have not contacted seller. Just wondering if they're known to be good machines or have problems....

Do they ride well with the operators located over the axle? Even at moderate speed? Seems like it would be like riding in the back seat of Jeep Wrangler / CJ where the seat is over the axle. I've looked at these little trucks quite a bit but haven't driven one yet. I guess I should go see fir myself when I get serious about a UTV.

I haven't bought one either. I did test drive one on the road, and it seemed decent for what it is.
