Alright so we made the big purchase!! We settled on an Acer with the I5 quad core processor 1TB hard drive and 8 gb ram upgradeable to 16 or I can add 16 to it not sure Ill have to check. Its got lots of usb ports and what nots It cost a little more than I wanted to spend but after everybodys input here and some serious internet research I decided to spend a little more and get this I think it will be good for our needs and it has the ability to grow in the future. We also got a Lenovo monitor to go with it I picked the Lenovo because it had the best picture of all of them that was in my price range. I was also pleasantly surprised that the salesman wasnt pushy at all I flagged him down and asked him a bunch of questions he answered them all promptly and politely. When I was asked if I wanted the warranty/service plan I had him explain it which he did then gave me a pamphlet and said you dont have to get it today I know its a lot of money you can come back to any store within 15 days and purchase it if you like. So we looked at several other towers and decided on this one told him and we were rung up and out the door. Honestly one of the nicest experiences Ive had at a Best Buy. Now I have to decide if Im going to get the service/warranty plan or not??
Here was I see you are requesting: Internet to include YouTube Bill Pay - Bank website or through software like Quicken? School stuff Please define Online class - special software or an internet site? Papers - Are they required to be done in Microsoft Word? Photoshop Budget of $500 As you can see some of your requests have questions What do you use for Billpay? Most banks offer Billpay online, but I know what there are software packages such as Quicken to offer Billpay. Please define your school stuff? Is it simply what you listed, online classes, papers? Recommendations: You can get a computer for $500 that will meet your needs. My personal problem is that you get what you pay for. Personally as another poster put it, I will not buy another Dell. HP would also be lumped into that category. People look at specs and think computers are all the same. This cannot be further from the truth. Manufacturing quality plays a significant role in this. When I spend extra for my Apple computers, I am able to keep them for much longer than the bargain basement computer like a Dell. Ease of use, Windows has come a long way again to be Mac. They have strived for ease of use in Windows 8, but didn't accomplish this. It's why they are getting ready to role out Windows 10. Yes they skipped Windows 9 for some reason. My biggest recommendation is for your to save to extend your budget from $500. If you cannot do that, then answer my questions and I'll try to provide you with the best quality within your budget. I answered your question in red I already bought one yesterday but as I stated Im always open to a return if I see something better. I really do appreciate your input as well as everybody else on here.
I've been using it since 1998, first on a PII, then a P4, and now an I7. I expect the I7 I currently am runnig it on to be the last computer I will need to buy. Well maybe something a little faster if I begin trying to shrink BluRay DVDs or randomly write all of the works of Shakespeare .
