I wonder wha the quality difference is between the Richmonds I am getting and the Earthquake you guys are buying.
The guy I get them from local imports a skid at a time and the sell out quickly. He has different cc machines and all sorts of other items, plasma cutters, heaters, Genset.......

I'm betting there the same? My Blue max (45cc) and the 45cc Earthquake is the same, minus the primer bulb.

Split case design, cyl on case, same AV, same clutch cover, etc, etc, etc.

Your on/off switch is about the only different looking hardware piece? That I can see.

Sorry if I missed it... I have two of the 45cc Quakes. I plan on entering my saw at the GTG.
What are my limits? Pipe, no pipe? Stock carb? If so, can carb be bored? 2 piece head? Fingerports? Are there any sprocket, chain, or bar restrictions? Air filter rules?

Not trying to be a goofball, and sound so serious, but I need to get this saw squared away in the next few weeks and wanted to stay within the parameters of the build. Heck, I may not have time to get this saw done up, and may just show up with a sharp chain and a bag of hopes and dreams.

I wonder if that new internals will prove to last like the quakes have? Talking to you Dex in this post.

But it has been concluded that the quakes are better chinese than others.

Look at the chinese saws that pete had both blew up in a few minutes. I have not heard one person on the AS thread blow a quake up yet?

My 52cc has been sitting quiet for a few weeks now, but it still runs awesome.

I would venture to say "All" the parts come from the same supplier in China. The "build" quality that is spoke on AS is due to the "Pro" build (cylinder on case). It's not a clamshell design. . .

If you look on eBay, the 45, 52, and 58 cc machines all use the same exact parts. The 52 cc has a larger piston and cylinder, but other than that, is the same as the 45 cc. And the 58 cc has a different piston, cylinder, and crankshaft (longer stroke). You can still put the 58 cc cylinder on a 45 cc saw, without the crank. But you won't have the compression that the added stroke from the other crank. I'm sure even without the crank it would run well.

I have ran mine a decent amount. I finally bought a tach, and best I can tell, the 58 cc is running right around 14k the way it sits now. Sounds good and runs good.

I don't know what happened to those 2 saws that Pete had?? If he still has them, I would like to dissect one of them to find the root cause. Did he say if they seized? Detonated?

    I can't remember.

I know that all those chinese saws look identical and swap parts. I was thinking maybe there was a difference in quality. Albeit small but maybe diff?

    Pageing pete.

Hey fellas.... What bars and chain are you running on your Earthquakes? Thinking about some different options here... wanted to hear what else is being used out there. 3/8 lo-pro? .325? 3/8? Anyone running a different bar than stock, or a different mount?

I know Dex is on the hunt for a .325 setup I think in 16". Everyone else I think is staying with the 3/8 lopro maybe using a 16" bar. I think those are the only ones I have heard or remember. MM was using a diff bar but dont remember the specifics?

Wish I could be there and just throw mine in although I know I won't beat these ported ones.

My 45 cc quake is pulling 63PM Chain (3/8" Picco) on a Husqvarna 16" bar. Dex is indeed on the hunt for a 16" .325 setup but maybe not for long..... ;)

Is that GB bar you have a 3/8" set-up? That is a killer combo. If I remember that was like a 12" or 14" bar. I was gonna be bringing 5"x5" cants and gonna ratchet strap them together based in saw size and bar size.

I figure this class would be a 15"x15" cant. So a 16" bar would barely see through (may have to take my large dawg off, or just do a 10"x10" which wouldn't be bad either).

Let me know your thoughts. I don't see there being a lot of big "Races". We don't have a sanctioned race like most other GTG's are built around (4 cube, 6 cube, etc) This is just a meeting of the members of this site. Coming together to cut up some firewood and have some fun.

    But I would like to see a 70 cc class race :) On a 25" x 25" Either using a 28" or 32" bar (whatever you have). ;)
