Is this crate just for measurement, then? Cause 250# would be like ideal for my Garden Tractor to lift around.... I think your onto something there. Cause a car trunk should be able to handle that too. Enough to be handled convienantly but not to much to be a hassle.

When we lived near the river we were about 2 miles from a campground. One of my neighbors used to bundle firewood with baling twine a arm full of wood, similar to what you see at the grocery store. He sold that for $3 or 2 for $5. He had a pallet that was at the end of the driveway and he used the honor system $100 a weekend from mid May to Mid September. He was in a good spot because he had a nice shoulder on the road right by his driveway. People would pull off the road with their campers and load up. Alot of times people would set the camper and just drive back because the park was charging $5 per bundle. About 10 years ago I had a huge pile of old cedar off a job. Jimmy came and we cut it up so he could split it up for kindling. He started to put 5-6 pcs of kindling in each bundle, within a year he was selling $150 a weekend, same price just more people not buying at the campground.
So, I guess it depends where your at as to what you can sell.
Oh, by the way my sons night crawler business took off when Jimmy let him put a little sign alongside the wood pile. We used the honor system for night crawlers too. Now that we moved Jimmy has got the night crawler business. Good for him.

The rack is just a measuring device. I stack the wood in heaping and then they load there vehicle. A car must have a pretty good sized trunk for it to fit. A small car can't get it all in the trunk. In a full sized SUV it is a rank across the back. I sold a full cord at a local campground yesterday, the customer, (repeat I might add who has a permanent site) said the smaller size interests a few of his friends.

As to pricing a product you produce. You can price it as to what YOU would pay for it, which would not be good if you have Scottish ancestry. Or you can price it like you actually want to make it worthy of your efforts.
Go with the second choice, it's a better road. lol
