Thanks MM, I hope so! With it being a few years old now I really hope I can find a good deal on one with low hours.

My deck isn't a drive over but it takes all of 5 minutes to put on and take off. There are two pins and a pto shaft to hook up and unhook. The wheels on the deck spin sideways and I just shove the deck with my foot and it rolls out from under the the tractor. I have used it to mow a few nice yards for other people and I thought the quality of the cut was great but I'm not fanatic about how grass looks so I am probably not the best person to ask.

My yard is far from manicured and in all honesty probably to small for the BX2360 but I wanted one tractor to do it all. The reason I went with the 60" deck is so that it sticks out past the wheels and allows you to put the deck on a tree and mow around it.

I highly reccomend getting the loader with the tractor as it is by far the best attachment you can ever buy in my opinion!!

How heavy are mid mount mowers? (MMM) All I can compare out to is the 72" Bush hog brand finish mower I use. And even though on 360° casters unless your on smooth concrete or something I can't imaging kicking it or pushing it sideways enough to move it say it it were unfer my tractor!!! Its hard enough to shimmy around to line pins up and such!!

Pick up the front and wheel it around on the back wheels like a dolly.

60"+ gets a bit heavy but one guy can still push around most 60" decks no prob. Bigger than that and they get pretty obstinate.

There are 4wheels on an FTH720 or whatever the Bush hog finish mower side discharge is called. And if you can pick up the pto end and roll it around your more of a man than me!!! I think it weighs in around 600lbs!!! I just Google it 590lbs to be exact.

And at 32 yrs old, 6'2" and 200lbs I dont really consider myself weak!!

Woah!! You guys are awesome. I have been traveling for work and havent been following. 5 pages. Dang. I have some reading to do. I opted to buy my time with this decision. I figure I have about 4 months to get a game plan for snow removal since this is really the task I dont have a way to get by at this point. Thanks for all the input. I will get back with any additional questions.

He'll get every penny. 400s ain't exactly common and one with two useful attachments (the tiller can be a $$ maker too) that looks and runs good is even less common. Only drawback is attachments are a little tougher to find than for a 300 series or a newer 400 series (ie: 425/445/455)

Now: is it the tractor for you? It's not 4WD, and I didn't see a mower under it. Those are two negatives. And for the money, you can get a newer machine, although it probably will not have a loader with it or 4WD. Newer machines have much better attachment availability and those attachments go on and come off much easier than the old stuff.

I think you would be well served by something from the the Kubota BX series or Deere's sub-compacts. 2210, 2305 and the 1xxx series are all machine to look out for. Of course, if you find a Kubota B-series or a Deere 4010,4100,4110,4115, or something from the 2x20 series in your price range ---- go for it.

I think you would be surprised at how much work a Super GT like the 400 series or the X700s will do. Really about the same size as a SCUT just a bit less weight and more suitable for mowing.

Here's my X720: Its only 2 wheel drive, but I can do most everything that I want with it. At times 4 wheel drive would be nice, but...I bought what I could afford at the time. The loader is a must, you'll find jobs that it will help you do that you wouldn't have thought about before (like moving refrigerators, wood stoves, and chicken house's). Its definitely a back saver. I've got the 48" mower deck, a box blade, forks for the loader, snowblade, and 50" Landpride Reverse Tiller for it. I sit on less than a acre of property. Look for Stinny's X series tractor on this forum too. He does quite a bit of work with it too. Love his claw that he built. The JD's X series, gives the best of both worlds for mowing and land maintenance.

Def a nice setup you have there Chvymn99!! The john deere GT series with attachments are hard to beat for home projects and mowing! I use mine for all kinds of stuff as well!

4WD in the winter would def be nice though and I could really use something with a little more capability and a quick attach backhoe. I am going out to a dealer this week to test drive the 1025R and see how it compares to my 445.

After having a tractor with a loader I wouldn't be without and I wouldn't want a small tractor with a loader and no 4wd. There have been lots of situations where I have had the loader full and very little traction under the rear wheels. A quick shift to 4wd and you get right through.

You need more ballast on the 3 pt. Having a loaded loader to the point of losing rear traction is a very dangerous situation. Would not take very much at all to roll the machine at that point.

Not just a safety issue either. 3 pt ballast actually relieves load on relatively delicate and expensive front end components ensuring they last much longer. Front tires fare much better as well. I would figure out what max lift is on your 3pt or look and see if the manufacturer has ballast recommendations for loaders. Most do. Deere gets a little crazy with recommending wheel weights and tire ballast, in addition to tons of weight on the 3pt. While I consider the tire ballast and WW optional on this size tractor, I would hang as much weight as is practical off the 3 pt.

Nice set up you've got yourself. I've looked at the next step up, but really can justify it for the size of my lot (would love it, especially the extra hydraulic capacity). How much weight do you have on the back of that? I've got my tires loaded with about 130 lbs in each rear and 75 cast on each tire. Plus I throw on usually 6 of those suit case weights on the 3pt hitch.

I bet that trailer hitch on the 3pt is handy.

It will do it sometimes even with the backhoe on there plus the tires are loaded. It won't do it on flat ground but try to reverse up a small hill with loose soil (which I seem to have to do often) and the tires spin. Even with the diff lock on, and the tires are spinning. My 3pt is good for 1500lbs or so and I think they recommend 600 as ballast. The backhoe is 700 or so.
