I wonder what a gallon of B&C oil cost in 1980?

I came across a receipt from 2015 the other day. Bar oil was exact same price as today at tractor supply ($7.99) I do think it had more tack back in the day.

Yes, I think you're right. I've noticed the same thing.

That 400 rips! It sounds like it is making way more RPMs than stock. What do you think you gained?

Thanks bud. Id say I probably picked up 45-50%. My plan is to run it against the stocker I sold the neighbor. I only did a moderate muffler mod on it. I'll run the same bar and chain and try to get some cut times.

Echos seem to gain the most from porting

A lot of it is the muffler in my limited experience. They really wake up with a good muffler mod and proper tuning once the limiters are removed.

Little update. Echo CS400, full of fluids with a sugihara light bar and 3/8 stihl picco chain. That bar only measures 13" from tip of spikes to the top of a cutter at the center of the nose.

For comparison. The MS 241 I sold was 12.8# with the Oregon "18" speed cut bar that was only 16" of usable bar. Stihl measures from the taint... That was using .325 23RS pro chain. The Redmax GZ4350 is 13.1# with a real 18" Oregon speedcut bar and .325 stihl 23RS pro chain.

The bar on the echo above is a 14"

I scored the nicest Echo CS-315 I've ever seen. Now I have the early and late model. The early model is what I already have. It has the metal toggle switch and a metal air filter cover with center knob for installation / removal. This unit has the slide on / off swich and a plastic, 2 screw air filter cover. Neat looking plastic on the cover. This is original paint, bar and chain according to the seller and I believe it based on the condition. It runs too.
