55 here. Rainy, and miserable. I've got a fire in the garage and just lit the sauna. Been soaked all day.
Like to have some a dat here...let me tell ya... ....95 saturday....97 sunday.....96 monday....no rain in sight...not really dry yet but it won't take long.
The heat is coming to lay us low yet. Usually we are in the 80s by now. In two weeks the sauna probably won't be neccessary
Not terrible here. 12pm and it's just 84. Pretty dang humid though. 73% humidity. Our high today is only 90. Getting some gas for the boat and we're taking the toon out on the lake.
Its pouring outside right now which is fine by me 10c/51f. I was working on the chainsaw outside in between power showers after work tonight. Im happy for cool wet weather but for Canada day long weekend it would have been nice for some sun and heat for the campers. My lawn needs mowing but its to wet out. Wood stacks are top covered so thats good.
Picture didn't turn out well with the glare but you can see the middle number is water temp in degrees F. This is surface temp keep in mind. My depthfinder is on the bottom of one of my pontoons so it's roughly a foot to 15 inches or so under the surface. I was in about 40+ foot of water in a cove off the main channel leaving the boat ramp when I took this pic. Main river channel was like 89.
Had a funny this morning but was not quick enough to get a picture. Was looking at the Weatherunderground web site and looking at temperatures. One spot in Michigan's UP gave a temperature of -40 degrees!!!! I right away thought to capture the picture and post it here but sadly it refreshed the page and the temperature really shot upwards into the 70's. Maybe the sun came out?
Oh and my charging system and battery are fine. I have the electronics isolated on a seperate battery. This is showing the accessory battery voltage but the wires including insulation for depth finder are like the size of angel hair pasta. I just assume it's voltage drop by the time it goes through the wires? Cause I have a seperate digital voltmeter on the switch panel where the wires come directly into it from battery and it will show like 12.7 or so resting and like 12.5 or so under the load from the radio and electronics.
Thats 31c! I wonder if there is much of a thermolcline in your lakes? Edit. Just re read. Thats warm for a river isnt it? or is that normal for this time of year?
Yea there several layers . Down about 10 ft you can feel it substantially colder. Down on the bottom and down at the bottom down by the dam it is really cold. The water in the river below the dam where it's letting water out is very cold, like moutain stream cold.
Yeah a temperature probe mounted in a hull transducer ( or even standalone ) has limited value as it can only indicate the temp of the water it is sitting in and depending on mounting location also can be affected by ambient temp of the transducer itself. ( a probe being heated by ambient temp in an engine compartment for example ). I put temp probes on long wires for lobster guys and a few fish guys who wanted to know temp of the water at depth. No sense fishing or setting traps in warm water if the fish aren't going to be there due to water temp too warm.
Think I'll start praying for a cold front to move through. I'd love to see the temperatures back into the 70's daytime and 50's nights.
Dennis would you like me to send some of our cool weather your way? Its 13c/55f at 4:50 pm right now, headed for a rainy low of 6c/43f overnight. I could almost justify a fire
Yep, it's freakin hot & humid. 84F feels like 95 with 82% humidity. 8:15 P.M. really? Tourists are like a plague around here during the holidays too. Is it labor day yet? Edit: I'm told Gun Lake, which has an avg depth of 4.5' is in the upper 80's as well. 5500 acre lake with 1000's of people at that temp, I can only imagine what's growing in there.
