Always a few cool nights to keep us on our toes in Sask. Warmed up to 5 C or about 40 F now. Burning furnace oil cause I'm lazy, and it's really dry up here, even with the rain we had the other day.
Had a short thunder shower last night. Cooler today and much cooler expected tomorrow so we'll probably had a couple of short fires. Hoping we don't get frost for sure now with apples beginning to blossom.
How are your rivers saskwoodburner? Ours are just cresting the banks now and there is lots of snow in the mountains. We had some heavy rain last night and a cool day so I lit a Doug Fir fire late afternoon and kept it going through the evening.
3c/37f right now but to lazy to get a fire going. I guess I can afford to be lazy at the end of the burn season when the birds are chirping and the bush is starting to green up. My son and I hauled a truck load of doug fir wood to the house tonight after work though. It was the first time he really worked his arm that he broke this winter. The doctor said his bones are healed but his muscles that he has been babying need to get back on track, he favored it a bit but didnt complain. He did good for a 13 year old that has just started his growth spurt. Ill keep an eye on him but looks like we have another load to get Friday night.
50f/10c very windy and it's been raining for 3 days now. We have had more rain in the last 3 days than the rest of the year so far. Eucalyptus choochin in the stove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A small fire this morning to take the chill off but fortunately we did not get a frost last night. Apple trees are still happy.
Rivers are high, but normal for this time of year. We were shore fishing at the south Sask river on Saturday, and the current was insane! Better half caught two small pickerel and the most polite 2 foot sturgeon ever. I just donated jigs and weights. Cool last night, so I lit off a fire...holy moly it was hot in here.
I'm hooked on fishing now. It was never really my thing, but I know just enough now to be dangerous. Some guys target sturgeon, and get ones upwards of 4-5 feet, but we haven't caught any that big. I think my gal got one about 3 feet long, that's the biggest. Sure are a neat ancient looking fish though.
Yeah they are a neat looking fish and very long living as well. One of the reasons why they are allowed to be fished in certain BC waters is because they have a very high survival rate through proper catch and release. Great picture, thanks for sharing.
Looks like our high today will be at 40 degrees. We've had rain here but a friend who lives 50 miles east of us said they got rain, sleet and snow this morning. I hope it does not clear off tonight lest we get down to freezing and ruin the apple crop.
