40 here now and ash and maple going, 29 they say overnight. Did not put wood in this morning but we went for groceries after church and that air was nippy so I still had plenty of coal, rechooched for the day burn as soon as we got home. The Buck maybe be cold after tonight.....we shall see.

+36° F here winds gusting to 20. Built a small fire today with some Sitka alder and a nasty chunk of dry cottonwood. Let it roar then closed it down . added a couple small splits of poplar early evening. Will let the Toyo carry the overnight. I'm feeling better, not great but workable. Wife is still sick. But healing up! Glad to hear winter has broke for most here.

Think I'll be pulling the fires on the OWB this week. As long as the overnights temps remain above freezing (or barely below) it'll be fine.

Last night it stayed well above freezing-mid 40's; no below freezing temps listed on the extended either.

Well I can finally post in this tread again.
    38F outside tonight. Eucalyptus burning 80F inside.:D

It feels good to finally be able to have a good fire, I have been struggling as I don't have any shoulder season wood, it will be all Aussie hardwoods this year!:stack::thumbs:

I see 70's in the forecast! 42 now though, with rain off and on. Feels chilly. Flurries and ice this morning, but none stuck. Getting pretty squishy around here with the frost melting out and a few days of rain. Had to take a sledge to one of the wood rows I'm working on to keep it vertical. Looks like I found another spot where water comes up from the ground.. should have stuck to pallets instead of getting cute with old fence rails.

Anyhow, pine boiling along, think I'll stick with it for the overnight. Supposed to be right around freezing.

8 feet fell on mt Washington this month. Another 8" overnight. Even the locals saying this is how new Hampshire winters were back in the day.

If it dries up a bit, I'm happy!

One more night in the 40's around here. With it going up to 79° tomorrow, I'll tough it out with no fire tonight. It should still be above 60° in here in the morning.

it's May tomorrow and we had frost on the car windshields this morning!!! In North Carolina!!! Crazy. But alas, I've cleaned out the Lopi for the year and didn't fire it up. But didn't have to run the heat pump either. We did burn a couple of brush piles outside this past weekend which made up for it. This is supposed to be outside burning season anyway around here!

Was a few degrees below freezing last night, but even lousy daytime temps will still hit 10-15 C or 50-58 F range now. Evening fires only now.
