We are at 24* here, and hard Sugar Maple is warming us right up. It kills me to burn it in April, but a cold man (and wife) has gotta do what he's gotta do.

Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of time to replace it, no?

Oh yes, I just am short on shoulder season wood and would prefer to burn Sugar Maple in Jan/Feb.

I've been tossing some oak, birch and maple chunks into the OWB.

I just went out for an arm full to reload, it's now 27 and the sun is strong but not high in the sky yet, and the wind is blowing hard. It feels like winter still that's for sure.

See a big warm up coming- always scary in April as what mostly happens is a big dump on the tail end of that strech

    +25°F here.
The Toyo OM 22 is keeping the temp habitable.

Did not get very cold overnight but has not warmed yet today. Had light snow so far all day but the sky seems to be getting brighter so hope it stops.

I see 2 days of forecast for late this week for high 50's and low 60's. However, it is short lived and we'll be back into the 40's.

Warmed up to -7 C feels -12 C, or 20 F feels 11 F at the moment. Was -17 C or 1 F around 4 am when I threw a few sticks in the reactor, so the temp is rising quick. Should hit just below freezing for a high today. Ash and cherry chasing the chill.

It can't last forever, right? The weather should be moderating in the daytime now, with only a few colder nights. Still way below normal, but better than what we have. Yeah, there's gonna be some bad flooding around here this year I imagine. No doubt our road will flood over or wash out again.

I'm not sure if I should be happy that a fella from Alaska can relate to my weather!  Sask winter weather on average is cold, cold snap, warm up, normal cold and so on, that's just the normal rollercoaster. It just feels unrelenting this year. Bear hunting should be easy, I'll only have to look for a black blob in the snow.:rootintootin:

Got out this morning, now I have to go to work. 78°F this afternoon, I think I should have called in sick.

Got out on the tractor to do some work. AS soon as I started the snow started coming heavier. Somehow it just did not seem right to be working like that and the snow coming hard...in April. But I stayed at it as long as my body would allow. Finally quit...and so did the snow. Methinks Mother Nature is ticked at us for some reason. I hope she moderates a bit fast.

40 outside right now, just put 5 small splits in for the evening burn, elm, cherry, maple. Down to 24 for the overnight they say, then 40's tomorrow before the warm up starts. Showing 72 for Friday, a bit of precipitation through the week. Every time I have time it rains or snows, have a blow down in a hay field and the way it is going I will be cutting in warm weather....hate that.

Probably close to 4 years worth. Looking forward to summer when I go back up into the mountains for some more lodgepole.

Got up to 51 here today. Not complaining that is for sure.
