Heading for bed, later than normal. 24 outside and about 2 inches of new snow, not too bad for January. Beech and hickory doing the job, 74 inside upstairs. Still have plenty of wood so haven't burnt the kitchen chairs yet.

I'll save you and the ornery one a spot on the beach.

    :dennis:

23° here now, supposed to drop to the teens. Burning a load of shagbark hickory, sugar maple, american beech, and cherry.

I feel for them. Out here of course we deal with the deep snow. Solar heat and wind has started to expose some of the grassy south facing slopes and the deer and elk are really given er. On my way home from work I saw several herd of elk and numerous deer munching away. I dont blame them for staying out of the deep snow.

Its amazing how it can be snowing like a demon and when you try to capture it in a picture it doesnt show up all that well but in your picture it did. Spring indeed!

Now don't go rushing the season! Might want to hold off just a bit on the pool and shorts things!

I’m ashamed to say I haven’t used the stove in a few days... Today I’m hauling up pine and loading it..

I kicked the garage furnace on about 14 minutes ago to warm it up. It got a lot colder outside than we thought last night!

Dreary hi 30’s low 40’s here... going down to low 20’s tonight.
Guess I’ll fire up the stove... pellets are great for warming up the upstairs, but our basement wood stove does the whole house, and the heat will last for 2 days easily after an 8-10 burn.... the upside of plaster walls and ceilings

Sitting at -18 C or 0 F this morning, with a hint of wind. Hopefully the forecast is somewhat correct, and only another eight cold nights before the weather breaks to be a normal lousy below normal.:hair::D

Small ash/cherry/poplar combo in the stove chasing the chill away.

Pete, that is awful. Do you need some wood? Just tell me you are in need and I'll be bringing some fast.
