It got up to 55ºF today supposedly but it was cold, rainy, drismal and by mid-afternoon had to have a fire to kill the chill.

Pine and oak. Mostly pine. Two splits of oak buys some time and a few coals later to do another load of pine.

That other temp of -30c you posted is crazy for this time of year! Were -12c right now and snowing. Larch in the stove keeping the house nice and toasty. My garlic planted up against the house with a south facing aspect poked out of the dirt today.

Been awhile since I've checked in. Nothing abnormal about the weather to share until today. Woke up to 4-5 inches of snow and a high predicted at 27. North of here up to a foot! And heres the forecast for the next week:

Extended winter fo sure! All this after we've had days in the mid 50s and even a day at 61. Gotta love the northern midwest! Thankfully I have a cord of wood left up by the house to keep the house cozy. Happy Easter weekend everyone!! And stay warm if you're near by.

Still snowing here. About 6 or so on the ground now. The wind that was predicted is not here-maybe it'll stay that way. The snow is not the dripping wet stuff, just heavy snow. Anyone in winter areas will know the difference.

With the wind and the wet snow that was predicted, I was sure the power would have hiccuped or burped or something. It was nice not to have either!

Had a good load in last night, no reload this morning. Currently 48 outside and heading to mid 50's. Had a heavy frost on this morning, sun is shining bright now. Wife will be baking so I will wait and get another fire going this evening. Rain to start about 8 pm and be turned to snow for a brief time early am., down to 30 overnight. 42 for Easter so I may have to keep a small fire going. Spring is around the corner, HAPPY EASTER TO ONE AND ALL.

As normal, stove is throwing heat but we let it go out last night so it is still a bit chilly in here. We'll fix that very soon.

Currently -13 C feels -25 C, or 8 F feels -13 F. 25-30 mph wind is never enjoyable although it's really sunny. Normal temps for this time of year would be lows of -7 c and highs of +6 C, or basically 20 to 42 F range. It should be sitting on the steps enjoying a coffee, muddy puppy prints all over, BBQ, and early morning wood season by now.

I'm thinking about 8" as tracks on the unplowed street shows drag marks between the tire tracks. (from an suv that went by)
