+29°F. Poplar barely going in the stove. This winter it just keeps snowing and snowing. Not big dumps every time but Lots of 3-6" each time it snows. Then it's plow and shovel, shovel and plow. Get plenty of exercise on the shovel. When I was young I liked big shovels. Now I'm happy with about a #2 . Easy to lift all day long.
37°F, clear, winds NW@4mph. B Locust and American Elm in the stove. Have been C/S/S-ing like a bandit the last two weeks, trying to get as much out of the weather as I can. We nearly used up our reserves the 20 months I was recovering from my pickaroon to the leg, now trying to build up again. I would estimate we are back to 1-½ years supply and not letting up. I'm shooting for a 4 year stash this time.
27F and still. For now.... Plenty O wind lately. Heading for low to mid 40's today. First load of W.Pine in a few weeks just went in a hour ago after 19hrs. Fun to burn this stuff. Makes for a light weight arm load!
Still chilly overnight. Sitting at -18 c feels -26 C, or 0 F feels -14 F. Poplar and furnace oil on the menu.
Still getting heat from the stove but we should be at the time of year when we let it go out most days. Our highs are still in the 30's. In fact, it is 30 now. Not expected to raise much more today. No big warmup in sight. Nuts...
Very sunny, strong solar heat, air temp is 39, but feels like 60 in the sun. We had a morning fire of Oak & Hard Maple that is now banked as coals which we will relight this evening. Colder weather coming this weekend with lows in the teens and single digits along with 2 days of snow next week. March is as March does. It will leave us a short window of time for outdoor work before the Black Flies emerge approx. 3rd week of April.
Did a little work in the woods. Wind is chilly. Temperature 34. Not much snow melt at that temperature. We don't have much more snow to get rid of but will be happy when it is gone.
38ºF right now outside, Got up to 41 and it was mostly a beautiful sunny day. Probably should have let the fire go out at ten as it is 75ºF in here now which is a bit much for me. A mix of maple and oak. Probably won't reload at nine and start a fire at daybreak if it's gotten chilly in here.
Cloudy all day, cleared up just in time to cool off, 25F with a stiff NW wind. 14 degree windchill feels pretty cold this time of year. Oak & Ash in the box.
12F with some wind. Glad I have plenty of nice Maple to get us through the next month. Then enough dry Pine for a few weeks after that. Winter seems to be a month behind again.
20 degrees with a 20 mph north wind.. Burning what's left on wood deck, might need to reload this weekend.
So far it is beautiful sunny here. Still below freezing but predicted to be 36 today. Then 2 days in the 40's. Stove still throwing heat.
