We are at 28* on this end of the continent. Spent some time cleaning off the roof, had a little help. Then let the kids ride the snow machine. Mum split wood and hauled some into the house. Made a fire in the pit for the kids. Mum broker out the fixings for s’mores.
Sitting at 1f this morning. May have dipped below zero last night, but I didn't get out of bed to check on that.....
30ºF outside right now. Pine fire, but probably reload with maple and red oak in a few minutes. Not supposed to get quite to 40ºF today and partly cloudy so maybe not much solar gain.
Chilly overnight seems to be the trend, -17 C feels -24 C, or 2 F feels -11 F. Should make it to just above freezing today. Poplar in the reactor.
Had to go to town early. Now I'm sitting here hoping it will warm a bit more outside so I can do some work out there.
Not much Dave. Here where we live it is white but as we go out, it is basically bare in the open country. Snow plow probably coming off today.
Was 25 above when I went to bed and 25 above when I got up this morning. 4 feet of snow on the ground in most places here . Raining and snowing here. Gotta go plow the drive before I go to work. Poplar in the stove.
Just lit the fire with Maple and White Birch, mid 30's. Spent the whole morning clearing snow, a lot of work just digging the vehicles out.
Actually, I enjoy the snow. it's a lot of work, but up here March can be our snowiest month. So I make the best of it as it part of life. It's what makes our state money, the skiers and snowmobilers will be up this weekend spending money.
You are right about the ski money. I used to like snow a lot. As I’ve gotten older, and when I had a 40 mile one way commute, I’ve grown to look at it more like work and an inconvenience.
I hear you, if I had to travel far, and with traffic, it would be a bad experience. But I don't have to go far, and don't need to use the highway. So I just put it in 4-wheel and have a blast.
We had a blizzard yesterday and it left snow on the ground for a blanket to wake up to. Still got another month before wood burning ends
