I agree Lee. We used to always laugh when Buffalo was on the national news. Yet, we got more in every storm than they did and it didn't even make the local news...
30F outside with a steady westerly wind making it feel like 21F. My Kumma is enjoying a meal of ash and tree of heaven. Tree of heaven is not an ideal firewood but mixed with ash it keep the house toasty.
+24°F poplar just barely puttering, more like smoldering in the stove. Was blowing 25 today. Toyo is doing most of the work . Which isn't much.
Yeah, my brother called me just when I got done snowblowing, about a tree down in his driveway. I went down and cut a medium size Cherry for him (and me). There is wood down everywhere around here. This is what it was like Wed. morning.
Oh, I almost forgot the real reason I came here! 26* now and Oak & Maple are doing the dance with last nights coals to get the 60* inside temp up some.
She let the fire die out around 9:00. So it cooled down some, we are doing shoulder season burning now with these temps. Morning and evening fires, no overnights for a while now.
-6 overnight. I just knew it was gonna be a cooler one! Going to warm up nicely with all the full sunshine we have though.
Just in the teens overnight. House stayed maybe a bit too warm. I woke up once sweating a bit. Didn't even put any wood in the stove until 9:00 this morning. Sunny outside and should get into the 30's.
Darn near tropical at the moment. Sitting at -7 C or 20 F, slight breeze, and the sun trying to come out. Supposed to get warmer yet. If we hadn't had such a dumping of snow lately, I'd be looking for firewood or setting up targets for shooting. Poplar same as always.
-2c/28f in the sunshine at the moment. My fire almost didnt make it but I found some twigs to revive it. Theres currently lodgepole pine in the stove making a creep up to temps. Should be a nice day with highs of 5c/41f! We are going to have a get together with friends this afternoon around a fire pit, smoked brisket, beers and glorious above freezing sunshine!!
Yall with insulation in your house make me envious!! At 28f overnight temps aND low 70s in mg house I better be reloading the stove!! Or else I would wake up to a house in the upper 50s!! Went to my farm last weekend. Around freezing overnights. And I loaded the small wood stove saturday at 1230am for the last time and didn't wake overnight to load it and it was 60f in the house the next morning at 830. This is with me only heating about 600 sqft maybe 750? And it was mid 70s in there when I went to sleep. That hauser only has a bit of attic and some floor insulation.
