36º this morning, warmed up a bit faster than yesterday - if we broke 62º under crystal clear Alabama blue skies. Warmed up a bit quicker today, but when the sun went down it's crashing again. I have the new baffle just waiting on an order of SS hardware before putting everything back together(lost a few in the shop vac) and one of the baffle bolts was tweaked a bit. House is 68º - I'd be burning right now if I'd have ordered those bolts last week.............and running around in my FHC thong
Thermostat said 71, so I decided to let in some fresh air... Who knew it was so cold out?? Time for another run of poplar!
Supposed to be 42 tonight but the house is still pretty warm. Going to hold off for now, but it is coming soon.
9:30 pm......... temps dropping quick. Will hit the freezing mark for the low. Just put in a night load of pear, maple, and a piece of oak. Temps expected to rise a bit through the week. Small load in a.m. should do it for a little while.
I think we'll hit 38 again tonight, we have some Hemlock and some Bigtooth Aspen that has been going since 7:30, no overnight fire since the house is nice an warm.
Hmmm. About 37º on the back porch right now. Boiler is burning some White Pine and a little White Ash.
Started a fire yesterday morning to take the chill out. 5 medium to small splits of silver maple took it from 62-72 inside!
40* outside when I got up, 66* in the house. Threw a few splits in the Regency to take the chill off.
About 50 this morning with rain. Looks like rain all day. Some Ash and Pine burning for a quick fire for hot showers and clean dishes.
The install of a Lopi 1750 insert was completed a couple of weeks ago. Since then the temps have been 30's and 40's at night. A fire at 7P with some white elm is enough to make it 72 in the house overnight. I'm saving the ash, mulberry and locust for later when the lower temps arrive. I haven't burned wood since the mid 80's and its a pleasure to feel wood heat again. The wife is very happy which makes my life much easier.
Its been getting down into the 40's at night here but all I've been burning are calories - cutting and splitting wood. I still have to get my woodstove installed, along with 2 baseboard heaters, all while still stockpiling wood, too many projects I tell ya!
