I have to move some wood in too. I've got witch hazel blooming in my yard! The petals will roll up again when it gets cold.
They are ready to pop anytime the temp spikes. I've had them open in January. It doesn't seem to hurt them, they just open and close until it gets really warm, then the bush leafs out.
Warmed up got rain cooled off. Stars in sky, and snowed a dusting. Think it was humidity and fog causing snow.. Currently 27, and I opened up air on stove, raked and loaded it Presto heat. You gotta love dry wood saves on matches
In a way it is nice and makes one pine for those warmer temperatures. 80 degrees in February!!!! Amazing. But then I think about those areas, like Virgina and south that are having some 80's now and I shudder thinking about how hot it gets in the summer. Methinks many of the Indians had it right; move south in winter and north in summer.
-11 this morning. Warm up for the weekend starts today. Tonight should stay warm also but with 5" possible....always a down side!
Got around 2-3 inches of the white around here, others more. I relit with cedar kindling and then loaded some birch and chestnut shortly after. We have a 2 hour late start today since I work for the school district. Supposed to warm up today at 40. Starting to already, Friday may bring another round of snow. The weather pattern for this La Nada is definitely testing.
Weather guessers got it right this time. 30 and snowing here. Only a 40 degree swing from 24hrs ago. Pine and red maple still choochin.
Enjoying some normal weather -7 c or around 20 f. Still a bunch of wind, but 30-40 k wind while it's -7 c is a boat load better than what we've been having.
After yesterday's warm-up, things froze back up today. Dawn works in Lancaster and the bridge heading into town is dammed up.
I can't remember the last time I haven't had a fire. Good feeling though. Meens I need more wood to process.
