39 and cloudy here. Rain south of us and we hope it stays south. Rain doesn't do much for us at this time of year especially with the ground still frozen. Rivers still frozen too and they have flood watches out through Wednesday. I can imagine with all the water run-off and ice jams, it could be messy in spots.

We're back into that happy time of year. Not much wood put in stove last night so had to start with a cold stove this morning. Will probably do lots of that from this point forward.

I just brought a load of shoulder wood onto the porch, supposed.to get real warm here too, so no long burning wood. Probably only about a weeks worth of that left....oops

I'll have to get crafty to get through this winter.

38 and raining cats and dogs here. Not supposed to freezer over night, so that's alright. Loaded a bit of pine and willow this afternoon, not really looking forward to the night load, but it'll be cherry and walnut I think.

Finding that the tale of walnut leaving a lot of ash is a true one. It's not out of hand, but definitely more than I've had the last couple years since I learned to manage the coaling situation better. I've been dumping ash alongside my garage footing this year. I suppose the weeds will find their way through eventually and it'll turn into soil.

Oh boy seeing Arizona on your location is not really associated with teen temps. Parents snowbird in Yuma, regularly 70+...

Yuma is in the desert at almost sea level along the Mexico border. If you go a couple hundred miles north you get into the forest and above 5ooo ft. Up here temps can get into the single digits overnight.

Nice weather station you have there. It is at -2 here now also.

I guess us Wyoming people have the same great ideas.

It’s about 28F out. Fire going, big half of alder round on top of two oak pallet squarewood. Supposed to get close to 20ish. Thank goodness I was wrong about winter being prematurely over. I needed another reason to keep the stove going.

Sitting at -21 C feels -27 C, or-6 F feels -17 F. Poplar same as always, and waiting for the weather to break at least to normal temps. Should be getting there hopefully by Thursday.

I dont know much about your area but its quite impressive how cold you can get, -29c in Arizona!! Your average low isnt that cold but it must be hard to plan for the extreme downward spikes in temperatures Im seeing in these stats. Ive spent two Christmas vacations in Scottsdale. That was fun. We woke up to frost a few times but we still walked around in t shirts. I remember watching the local news and there was a mountainous area north of the city that had a few roofs collapsing because of snow loads. 20c felt fantastic compared to the -30c/-22f that we left when we boarded the plane in Calgary Alberta. My son learned how to swim in the outdoor pool that first year. Good memories. What do you burn there?

As you and I know Pine will keep a house in the coldest climate toasty warm! Ive been burning a few loads of lodgepole pine today. Pine packs a big punch. Its -24c/-11f right now, just waiting a bit longer before loading for my overnight burn of larch.
