Earlier (during the night actually) I looked and our temperature was 30 while Ironwood was at zero. Ah, one of the good thing about living a bit further south. It warms up a bit sooner. Expecting a couple days (Monday and Tuesday) in the low 50's. Our road is a mess with mud right now. No place for water to go yet so will be wet for a while. Makes me wonder though if the frost laws will come on early this year.

Speaking of frost laws, I wonder if out east and maybe a bit south of us if they haven't come on already? Anyone know?

Currently 47F here. Full on mud season, except for my yard which seems to have slipped back into the ice age.

Inside temps are holding at about 70. I'll burn overnight shoulder season style!

Still nice splitting weather! I have about 3 more afternoons worth to split before I get the front yard wood dumping area emptied out. I want the deck clear for getting season! Unfortunately I'm having to put my newly split wood in the empty bay of the woodshed for now, until I put together a new stacking area.

Warmed up pretty good, -10 C feels -16 C, or 14 F feels 4 F. Not quite Arizona weather, but I'll take it. Idling the stove along 1-2 small splits of poplar at a time.

For sure! But my yard is either ice or mud, so not much work to be done back there. I only have about an hours worth of splitting to do right now.

Need to get going! There has been alms nothing to scrounge that I've seen on CL lately.

Now that the snow and ice is mostly gone I'm gonna have to hit the road and start grabbing the roadside treasures

Bring a sledge and pry bar. I picked up a few roadside logs that were still frozen to the ground, had to whack them to free them up.

    Good idea.

I need to get the big oak that blew down during the Halloween storm cut up and moved closer to my yard before the vegatation grows in too. I'll process that as time allows.

Pleasant day today with the warmer 32° temp, headed down to 0° tonight. Will load up birch in the oakleaf for the overnight.

I’d like to bring some of these northern boys down about the 2nd week in august and have them help prime some Tobacco. They would find out what swampass means. Lol. On the other hand I bet if we went up there and faced -20 we would tuck tail and run!!

Wow, Snap Lock roofing on your woodshed, . First Class. Are you going to take down the blue tarp ? Let your wood breathe .
Looks good. If I wasn't so snow bound I would be out getting wood right now.

Ehh... Winter is due back a little bit. Tomorrow night at the earliest... could drop to 19°F Monday night and by then roads could be slicked up enough.
Rest of the week is considered mild but nights being lower 30’s will keep me burning. I loaded the stove up with a mix of pine and alder, I’m actually working on the last stack of wood that I expected to burn this year so honestly it worked out quite well.
