The wind really does add up to a problem. It just drags the energy out of a guy. With this major cold/flu I've been going thru the past 6 days I've felt the cold getting to me. It gets old. But , we r in the ides of February. April isn't far away. You'll make it !!

Enjoying a lazy day with the family after a long week. Mid thirties and raining here - just checked on last night's (8pm) load of red maple and the boiler's idling at 167. Tossed a couple more splits on so I could feel like I did something. ;) I'll rake up coal mountain and throw some pine in before I head back inside.

And a warm welcome to Aje1967 - sounds like you have a great mix of wood there!

I'm usually quite stoic when it comes to hot or cold weather, as I adjust to either rather well, but that wind I can never get used to it. But you're right, we gotta run out of winter sometime!

I'm in the southeast corner. We have had little to no snow up till the last week or so. Now we have at least a foot I'd say. Winters here are hit or miss with snow. More predictable up north near UP of Michigan. Has been pretty cold winter here, but not compared to you guys!

I didn't even know what a balaclava was before, then I wondered why it was called that, so went and searched that out

It didn't get above -10°F, -23.3°C today, although it was sunny and almost calm. -20°F / -28.9°C now. Burning Poplar and Manitoba Maple. I've got a DED elm in my sights if it warms up.

You can't go streaking when a million mosquitoes and a billion black flies are chasing you.

20F after about 7" of snow this morning that was pretty hefty. Plowed, broke the plow, fixed the plow & plowed some more. About tired of plowing, did it commercially for 25 yrs & just don't find it very invigorating anymore. Dropping to single digits they say, we'll see. They also called for 1-3" of snow right before we got 7". I do cold better than hot, but wind sucks the heat & life outta everything. Ash & Oak in the furnace holding at 72F IAT. Sun's supposed to shine tomorrow, that'll be a big improvement.
