Nice! I thought it would be fun to do a thread on winter bbqs so I made one. If I can find it Ill post a pic of one from last winter... that was a chore to clear up. neglected winter bbqs thread
Yeah they are kind of a messy tree here, but there’s tons of them. The stuff I’m burning right now is from a takedown a friend and I did about 3 years ago for a co worker. Not a huge tree by any means , but I’ve got about 3 cord worth in a different stack from a 100’ plus monster silver! Some of the lower wood was 50” diameter luckily my uncle let me borrow his excavator on that one!
Many years that's what our Feb./Mar. looks like around here. We also get our biggest dumps then as well.
35 and raining here now, it was a warm night . I just got home from a 12 hour shift and was gonna light the stove. But, we had a funeral to attend for my cousin yesterday that passed away at 59 from ALS, Lou Geurigs Disease. My son and his girlfriend came down from up north for the funeral and spent the night here. He is sleeping on the couch in the room with the stove and I don't want to turn the light on and be fooling around firing up the cast iron waking him up.
Not this week! I'm looking forward to the 50's on Weds/Thurs, I want to catch up on splitting. It would be so nice to get everything in the yard split by spring, so I can focus on garden cleanup etc. Because if there's wood to split, I won't be raking leaves.
Sorry about your cousin, 59 is way too young to go. And I guess a lot of physical capacity was taken from him before he went. Terrible disease.
Thanks Midwinter , She was Debbie, and lost all mobility. Totally dependent on others. We grew up together in the same house as babies, we lived downstairs, they lived 2nd floor. We were best friends. Very sad, a terrible disease that took a very active woman and made her needing round the clock care for even the most basic needs.
14 degrees with a real feel of 1 degree. Black locust and silver maple going again. We got another 4 inches of snow and it's still snowing here.
Went out and shoved some white stuff around but didn't get but about 1/3 done. Put stuff in barn and closed doors. I'll go back out when it stops snowing.
August was great! I kid of course, we've had a few decent days, they just seem to be outgunned by the cold, especially the wind.
New to the forum, been wandering around it for a couple weeks though and felt that I had to join. About 20 here snowing again after quite a winter snow drought. Burning ash and cherry right now. Have a mixed bag decent hardwood including ash, maple, cherry, mulberry, buckthorn (nasty tree, good firewood), locust, and a bit of walnut. Picture is of a buckthorn that did not survive much past the photo.
