And for those that are bored with my continued use of poplar . I have a different wood burning this evening . Black Spruce. Got a mix of white spruce , black spruce and poplar in the stove at the moment.

Warmed up somewhat, sitting at -16 C feels -24 C, or 3 F feels -11 F. Feels nice to relax a bit feeding the machine instead of like I'm stoking coal on one of those old locomotives.

It really does make a difference, even if it's just a few chunks at a time. My gal loads 3 at a time. Not any 3, the smallest 3!

-21c/-5f right now. Im burning the coals down for my overnight fire. It was a beautiful cool sunny day today. I did some yard snow removal today but it had to be by hand since my snow blower isnt working. Im thinking belts but we will see. I sure wish I could run my chainsaw...

Have you suggested using gloves? Even though the ove glove doesnt go past the wrist I use one on each hand when Im loading the stove. This way I can put my hand on the stove top for support or stick it right in the stove. Ive tried to convince my wife to use them when shes loading but for some reason she wont even though they are sitting right next to the stove. I cant stand the heat on my hands when I stick them in a stove of 300F-400f. I dont even feel the heat through the ove glove. Welding gloves would work better me thinks but the ove glove is cheap and works great.

-9f looks like weather guy changed his mind he said -15f before and now updated it to -9f guess there was some kinda 6 degree heatwave that came thru in the last hour.
Being weather guy isn't to stressful that's for sure . You only need to guess weather within hours and you get to move the goalposts at any time. There's alot dart throwing going on. Weather guys and horoscope guys. Same mold.

Rain brought much warmer temps again. 44ºF outside. Burning pine this morning and easily heating the whole house at these temps. Undecided as to loading some oak and not baby-sitting the stove feeding it pine. The rain is supposed to stop for a little while in a little while so I might get out to do some yard work.
