Sorry about your son! I hope time off from shoveling/wood hauling is some consolation for him. Sister will sleep well at night after snow duty!
Low 20's to upper 20's, feeding the greedy hungry beast a diet of straight Ash. Maybe an inch of snow fell last nite, good chance of freezing rain in the mix, schools closed. Sean, here's hoping your boy a speedy recovery.
17*f burning Ash, Sugar Maple and Red Oak in the OWB waiting for the snow to start. Calling for 8" to 12" winter in the Northeast. Do storms really need to have names or is it just for hype?? Go get your bread and milk! Stay home, If you do need to go out drive slow and careful Be safe!
13°F, slight breeze out of the NW, cloudy. B Locust and white Elm in the stove, sausage and scrambled eggs in the skillet. The boys, two Blue Heelers, have been romping in the snow like there is no tomorrow, glad they enjoy it.
16 oat and 53 iat now, yeah I know it's cold in here. We let the stove go down late yesterday afternoon for an ash cleanout and got in late and never did clean it. It's done now and the fire is under way with Hard Maple and Oak.
They keep forecasting more snow for us but thankfully, they are wrong again. In fact, NOAA is getting worse and worse all the time. Methinks maybe they are trying to keep up with the idiots who preach doom and gloom with the weather. And don't you just love it when you look at the night forecasted low temperature and then notice that the present temperature is already lower than predicted? Can hardly believe how many times that has happened this winter.
I think what's happening to our forecasting technology, is that it's not able to account for global climate change, and the dramatic effects that can have on local weather. We've seen amazing temp swings this year (not uncommon, but seemingly more dramatic), and very sharp turns in the jetstream that rarely happened before. Anyway, we've had a below-normal February here in northern MN, and I'm ready for spring. Things appear to turn around (above zero!) starting Saturday. The IS has been chugging on the same diet all year, jackpine, white birch, red oak, with the occasional pizz elm or ash log.
You are partly right for sure. It makes one wonder how often they make changes in their computer programs? But even the climate change does not account for the stupid things like forecasting a high or low but that has already been exceeded by the time the forecast comes out.
Thanks. The doctor says because hes still young he will heal quickly. We were going to go pike ice fishing this weekend but I dont think that will happen. -4c/24f right now, nice and warm. I just loaded the stove with some lodgepole pine. At these temps its pretty easy to keep my 2600 sq ft house warm.
Hit the nail right on the head! The long range forecast had us pegging into the high single digits/low teens starting around the 10th, and it's pushed back to the 16th so far.
