Seeing the constant below zero temperatures is getting so it makes me shiver. And to think, we once seriously considered moving to Alaska and we both enjoyed the cold and snow back then. Seems as we've aged a bit, we no longer like the cold nor the snow and especially hate the ice.

If anyone is wondering, spruce will keep ya warm. It’s light to move and easy to split. 0405F59E-E848-4A2D-B017-37A87CBC13EB.jpeg

Yes. I use some Spruce here as well. Need to give it good time to dry.

0 degrees here with Maple reloaded in the Wood Gun. Light snow.

I didn’t get that eight hour burn time last night. But it was close. Still had just enough embers to stir up and toss a couple small pieces of dry Pine on and watch it take off in seconds. The big tank was cooled down though, because the Wood Gun was not throwing any more heat. The bubbling goo boiler kicked on once or twice :emb: until the Wood Gun started throwing heat over 170 about 15 minutes later. It had only cooled down to 165.

We saw -13°F last night with a wind chill of -24°F Woke up to no water & lightly frozen pipe in the pump house- both lamps went out. No damage as far as i can see, everything back up and running.

I wasn't expecting to see it only 6F this morning. I've been burning borderline punky maple and some solid red maple because it's been fairly mild. It was 64F in the house when I woke up. That was an unpleasant start to the day.

No kids this morning, so I was gonna get an early start and work outside, still on the couch saying nope. Don't even wanna make the dump run. Need to go plug the truck in for a bit I guess.

We've used a lamp in the pump house for years but this year finally just gave up and put heat tape down there. No problems so far.
