Move to Michigan! It’s a tropical heat wave this morning!! 6f... feels like -1 on my outdoor weather station. This year has been so cold I can only bring one cart of firewood up at a time and then go in because I’m out of breath.
Looks like we will hit the 30 range next week!!!! That’s gonna bring ice so I guess it’s time to fire up the generator and get ready...
When it's cold like this or the power is out they don't think I'm crazy, they just know I'm warm!! Woke up this morning, another morning in the teens!!! But by Thursday we will be in the high 60s with rain!! Charleston still has snow on the ground and ice on the roads!!! Last snow storm of that size was in 1989, I was a boy then but remember it, BUT it did not stay around as long as this time!!!!
Slept in for a change, and it was -14 at 8 when I finally got up. Wife's been sick, and I found her on the couch in front of the wall heater.... Cranked up the thermo a bit, added some splits and made coffee. Nothing else to do but keep us warm until tomorrow. 75 in here now, but cooler farther back into our bedroom. Still feels cooler than that in the living room. Might hit 5 today,, and -5 overnight, then tomorrow 26.....WOW.....
Below zero this morning, mild wind. Tossed 1/2 a dozen chunks of hedgeapple in the greedy beast before leaving for work.
It was exactly -20 this morning as I thought it would be. -11 now. Reloaded about an hour ago and the house is warming back up, at 71. Went down to 68 for a bit, but never heard the furnace kick on! That should be the last of the double digit below 0 temps for a while. I don't mind a single digit below here and there but this last spell has been ridiculous. Almost 3 weeks without a temp over 10 and lows were always below -10.
Over it. -3 this morning, high of 1 today. This should be the last of it for now though, supposed to be 20’s tomorrow and 30’s all week. Burning some white oak now, what a difference from my usual elm, ash and red maple. Still running the stove harder than normal but house is warmer and stove is holding heat better. All white oak except for one apple split. This should give me good heat 5-6 hours I would guess. Stay warm all.
Still cold enough to test the frosticles out there but it is sunny and not much wind. Warmer weather not too far away...I hope.
Started walking into our (hopefully) 3-4 day heat wave overnight. Currently -9 C feels -13 C, or 16 F feels 8 F, and with a little luck, should get just below freezing. I haven't decided what I'm cooking on the charcoal grill yet, but it's gonna happen. I actually cooked up some chicken 1/4's when it was -20 C a few days ago, but it will be much nicer in moderate weather. I also have a cleaning date with the furnace sometime today. I pulled the nozzle/gun unit and gave it a quick clean yesterday, but it didn't help. Hopefully it only needs a new nozzle because that's all I can do for now.
Sun is out and stronger. Warming up here! -7F and feels like -23F with the wind! Dang nabbit Ash. Pine. Ash. Pine. Ash. Pine. Ash.......
14F here at 1:15 PM nice bright sun! Gonna fire up the tractor & move snow away from the log piles. Some bucking & splitting coming soon I hope. Local met states that a pattern is getting underway & we'll have more moderate temps for a couple weeks. Lots to do if that happens.
Low last night -21f it's already 4f heatwave. Husky was outside the dog house laying on the Ice. Catching some Sun . Heat550 Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
It was -11* this morning, 14* and sunny now. Red oak and hickory are heating the house. Tomorrow we are suppose to hit 30* and they are saying we could get to 50* by Wednesday.
