Currently -7°F headed down to -23°F overnight. The schools have a two hour delay tomorrow due to windchills still down to -35°F possibly. We'll see a high of 5°F tomorrow with the real warm-up on Wednesday (20°F)

That's crazy cold...! I assume the stove won't keep up in those temps?

I think the coldest temps I ever experienced was 27 below a long time ago.

14 degrees with 20mph wind ... little brisk here in wny ... National Greed just asked everyone to turn down the thermostat 5 degrees because of “supply” difficulties ... wtf they’ve been fracking like mad for years to the point of some people being able to light the water coming out of the faucet and now they want people to turn down the gas during historical cold ? They are f..... over there the way they run ! Oh well - time to load up the stove with some red-oak and shagbark hickory !!!

Dam Brian, that's "NUTS" I was out in Wisconsin back in 1995 and we were out to visit Chris's Mom and Dad and I believe it was late January and we had 3 or so days where "Stupid cold" is what it said on the thermometer. one morning I got up and it was -37º :shiver:. I "had" to go out to feel that, and my hot cup of coffee FREAKING FROZE in about 2 minutes. :jaw: I could not believe it actually happened! o_O Man I feel for you Brother! Just keep the ol stove cranking!

Come on WeldrDave , admit it, you miss being in Wisconsin in the winter. This weather really gives one an excellent reason to burn wood:hair::axe::stacker::campfire:

It was -2.6F this morning when I walked my pups, we made it to 10F today. It's supposed to stay above zero tonight which will be nice. Been burning a lot, went to TSC today and picked up some of these RedStone compressed bricks to try. I've got 4 cords left, so I won't run short, just figured I'd give them a try as I'd never heard of them before finding FHC. These are the smaller blocks, 6 to a package. My eldest is up in Hamburg, NY southwest of Buffalo and getting pounded with snow. Not quite as bad as Erie, Pa., but still no fun.

Hi Scout24 ! Let us know how those TSC bricks work ... was always curious at the length of burn time compared to seasoned hardwood ... thanks !

I've had "several" encounters with Wisconsin winters! :shiver: I have "great respect" for the folks out there! I really don't know how some folks pay their bills for heating with out some other sources of heat? I've been there many times for a couple week stretches where it never got above 0º o_O

-5 now with a feel of -23. But feels a bit cooler than that for some reason!

Fired up the OWB with a nice fat chunk of maple...let her chew on that overnight!
Didn't need any lights outside as the moon is so bright and the skies have no clouds in them....but, we'll get colder because of the no cloud cover.
