Got ya! Thought it must be at least a 45/70 or just a heck of a 30/30 to put down that big guy! Nice bear!
Thunder during a snow storm is very uncommon around here but I have see it in spring once or twice. Cold air meeting warm air? Enjoy the snow!!
-8c/17f outside right now and I just loaded the stove to the gills with larch. Ive reported recently that our weather is boring as of late, no fun heavy snow fall like some of you and no frigid temps to report. I guess its good that we arent 5 or 10c! The house is sitting at a comfortable 24c/75f right now. My temps are always taken upstairs in the middle of the house and the stove is a basement install.
Its +27°F here atm. A little snow is falling. Not much. Poplar in the stove. Throttled down pretty good. At my work. A snow day means extra work !! It's often as much as 75 -80 degrees colder here at this time of year. 50 to 60 degrees colder is normal. Snow so dry we can sweep a foot deep of the stuff off a vehicle with a broom. This last storm was so wet , a foot deep in a grain scoop shovel is a fair load.
Good morning ya'll 28 here and overcast that feels and smells like snow, which is coming. We're gonna be close to the rain/snow line, hopefully all snow. Elm is keeping us warm.
The colder temps are coming now. Forecast for about 6F last night, but it was 19 this AM.......I guess the load of Oak I put in last night mighta been a bit overkill, but at the time was a good call. LOTS of coals this morning, with an IAT of 70.....I'll take it. Added 2 Maple splits to help bring the temp up a bit and get rid of some coals. I think I'll just keep the air open for a while w/o adding anymore wood, as it's 73 IAT now.
Supposed to get pretty cold here for a couple days but I see a warmup come the weekend. Will probably feel good to have temperature above freezing again. Snowing pretty good here right now but not much expected. A couple inches should about do it. Good. I'm not up to plowing snow just yet.
Still experiencing way above normal temps here. Although it dipped down a bit last night, we're currently sitting at -1 C (30 F) and cloudy. Normal averages for this time of year would have us bouncing between -11 C and -20 C (12 F and -4 F) not counting cold snaps, so it sure makes a difference on wood consumption. Big poplar kindling in the stove.
back up in the mid 30's again this week. I'm happy to get rid of some more box elder to make space for hard maple coming soon. If it gets much below 30 I can't burn box elder fast enough to heat the house!
The Weather Channel is beating some kinda drum all day..."weather advisory for this evening until tomorrow".... Temps will drop to the singles tonight (wow) winds are picking up now (hang on) and maybe 1"-2" of snow (help) Why do they always have to make it sound so bad?
Ratings, the lost people who cannot function without someone else telling them what to do, are on the edge of their seats.
22* just getting ready to load up the OWB Cherry, Hardhack and Maple. 24 hour burn times and 72* in the house. Weather forecast calling for 2" to 5" of snow, down graded from last nights 8" to 11" We will get what we get and deal with it!!!
Accuweather has starting calling everything an "event". Evidently, there's a snow "event" for today. I can't really say what I want on here, so I'll just do this...........
Local weather is calling for 4"-8" in the higher elevations. I'm in northern New York. Just put the plow on the truck, just incase
