12 degrees at 5am this morning now at 19, headed to 29. 70 inside temp. Put a half load mix of shoulder wood with a piece of oak in this morning. Set the IS to chug nice and slow today to keep the house an even 72-73. Only loaded it to have some coals to load on when the wife and I get back from my work christmas party.

Watching some ice fishing shows sippin coffee.

Many of us refer to late fall and early spring as shoulder seasons. Where we use our lesser btu woods. Ex: pine, boxelder, cottonwood, silver maple, etc

When we got it, it looked like a burgundy color to me, but I think it has baked into brown.

Sitting at -5 C feels -10 C (23 F feels 15 F) this morning and supposed to get above freezing later today. The bad side of the warm weather, it might rain all day and then snow all night. Should make for some horrid driving conditions. Poplar lit off in a cold stove.

We're at 32 now, the Elm fire from this morning is coals for a later relight. We got 6" of snow last night,I spent the morning cleaning that up. And I'm taking off for a few errands now.
