I live in the woods, but I'm about 5 air miles from a city with a lot of undesirables, and I'm right in the middle of an area with a huge opioid problem. Thankfully, I have a big dog that flips out at every sound he hears.....though, usually it's him barking at the cat in the middle of the night.

Good morning, 32 to near 60 today!
A few small splits of ash in the beast last nite, I'll shut it down when leaving for the workhouse this morning.

Well Dennis, maybe she subscribes to the belief..."if the husband has too many clothes on, put more wood on the fire!" (Lucky dog!)

Some wonky weather happening here. It's warmed up to -3 C feels -9 C ( 28 feels 15 F) and the wind will bounce between 20-35 mph until tomorrow morning.

33F on its way down to 22F tonight. Burning off the remainder of a mountain of maple coals. Came home to cool stove smoking out the chimney, with the firebox almost half full of coals. Mixed em up and it took off. Reload with maple in a few hours

Wind is screaming here after an all windy day.

    Mild temps, though.

Wind chill will be single digits tonight, 14 if it was still. Maple uglies and white pine this afternoon, think it'll be hemlock and beech over night.

-edit- black birch came up before the beech. I'll take it.

Current temp 16°F headed down to 8°F overnight. Had wind and snow on and off the past day or so. Put the plow on the grizzly awhile. Kept the oakleaf loaded a little all day to keep the inside air temps up, and will load it full for the overnight.

Temps were in the 50's today and now it is really windy. No snow in the 8 day forecast.

Well how bout that weather?:D Windy all day, nice and sunny and not really cold. About 5;15 or so, and it's like someone hit a switch. Wind picked up more, snowing and generally blizzardish travel not advised weather here. Sitting at -8 C feels -19 C (17 feels -2 F). Plus a nice 35-40 mph wind
