We had 33 this morning with the rain (real wet out) changed to snow when the temp hit 32, we've received about three inches of the white stuff.

We've been burning shoulder season wood but after supper, we'll switch to some better hardwood since we might hit 17 for a low.

It was mid 50's today but dropping to the 30's tonight. Stoves been cold a few days...

I just lit her off with trash trees... Tree of Heaven, literally... But I have a stove full of Black Walnut splits on the hearth for the all night load that i'll pack in around 8-8:30... A couple walnut uglies for between now and then.

Did you get any higher winds today? We didn't get much but I'm wondering if Gasifier received them.

Lesser woods used for warmer outside temps, late fall and early spring temps. Not the good true hardwoods used for the heart of winter.

Yes, very very gusty. Some smaller pines down. I still need to raise my weather station another 15 ft. Some gusts around 50mph.

Are you getting lake effect snow?

Seems funny . The (lesser wood species) Y'all have some of the best wood down there. And it doesn't get real cold.

It's 25 tonight and heading to 17 or 18, we have some dead elm going in the heater.

It's 77 in the basement and 71 up here. I said that we wouldn't be bringing in anymore pine but looking at the forecast, we'll push in another two loads........maybe more.

Ive thought the same thing. The colder climates could do with some of that higher btu wood but somehow you make do! You at least have some birch right? I have a little bit here but mostly a close equivalent larch at 19 mbtus which is my longer burn time wood. Theres no oak to be found anywhere near here!

We continue to be in a mild spell at -1c and snowing heavily. Ive got the stove full of doug fir to take me through until morning. 20 minutes away from me there are wind warnings of 120 km/75 miles an hour! fortunately its just some gusting and swirling snow here for me.

Sitting at -10 c feels -17 c, or 15 f feels 1 f. Supposed to see upwards of 25-30 mph wind gusts by morning, so I'm gonna freeze my sack off looking for deer if I morning hunt.

Coming off a n/s burn of a few stubby rounds of poplar

Mrs Leoht just stated that it's ONLY 27 degrees, that's Celsius she was talking. 80F at 6 pm. No burning here for a while now.
