It must have stopped snowing about the same time I said we had near 3" last night.

My drive this morning was greeted with freezing drizzle. Only a little bit of that on the way home.

sure was nice to have the 65mph now.

Accuweather says it's 28 OAT, going down to 19.
I just loaded some Pine in the 30 and got the IAT back up to 73.
Hoping it stays there until bedtime, but I doubt it.

 

Too warm here. Still 43ºF outside.
Will get by with a fire early AM tomorrow, just like today.

 

It's 31 out tonight with some snow falling (calling for 1-3) we'll load the Liberty up with more shoulder season wood tonight.

 

Snow snow and more snow here today, probably 4 to 6" of fluffy stuff, and -10 C or -18 C with the wind. Or 14 F feels 0 F. I'm starting to think this is going to be one of those winters to remember.

Na for a Aussie this is perfect weather hot comes in January and February when we can get up above 110F. The hottest day I ever experienced at home was 115 degrees Fahrenheit winds in excess of 65 miles per hour and the humidity was only 6 percent.

The coldest was +18F back in July.

its 37 this morning, on its way to a high of 42. I skipped the evening reload yesterday, first time in a few weeks I was able to do that. Theres a light load of red maple bringing the stove back up to temp now.

Im still somewhat shocked when I find a good coal bed for a relight when I havent fed the beast in 24 hours. My old stoves would be ice cold 8-10 hours after a feeding.

 

Looks like a couple or so more days with the freezing drizzle/rain conditions.

 

It sure is nice! I'm finding the same thing with the IS also. Turn the air down to 1 notch above or even all the way closed and close the damper and virtually all coals are still there for the evening relight. Open everything wide open except for the cat sled and it gets back up to near 400 on the cat probe which makes for easy peasy relights! And saving a ton of wood with a once a day reload.

I let the furnace catch the house back up in the early evening if it drops too cool during the day. NG is cheap enough to not have to be a slave to the stove.

 

32 this morning with no rain, no snow. Chunked a bunch of junk maple and splitter trash in the greedy hungry beast last nite.
Low 50's today with rain tonight and thunderstorms/near 60 tomolly.

I'e been doing morning and night loads. There is usually someone home throughout the day.

 

Probably too warm for you guys, sitting at 40° with a calm fire. Gonna throw a long on in a bit. This really just keeps the house warm enough when Im gone and also combats the moisture. To give you an idea about the moisture, last two years I used to run a dehumidifier during just about any kind of rain. I actually bought it the day I got keys to the house and delivered the paint. The house air was swampy in feel. Thick air. I ran it all night and let it pick up water. Steam would then stick to the windows pretty easily, mostly to the bedrooms. Non issue at this point. Its enough heat to dry it out beyond any doubt.
