Started a fire with shoulder season wood after supper, it's 72 up here and 77 in the basement. Once we're done with four f/c of shoulder season wood, we'll move on to some of our better wood. That should leave us with another four f/c of shoulder season wood for the spring if needed.
32f right now with 25mph winds, headed to 24 for the low. Loaded the IS full with a red oak/box elder mix. Dialed down to just a few whisps of secondaries. Running 1200 at the cat, 675 on the face by the cat, 480 on the stove top. House sitting at 69, probably be up to 71 by bed and stay there for the night. Gonna be chilly the next few days with highs barely above freezing.
Windy rainy 44 today, burned some Box Elder. They say low 37, probably put in some Walnut after while
39f right now only going to 54f, started a fire so when the kids wake up for school it's nice and warm, probably put a few pieces in before I head to work later on, trick or treat fellas, enjoy your day and count your blessings and thank the man upstairs
Yep, Happy Halloween. Awoke to some kind of white stuff on the ground, which at first glance (still dark30 out) made me think heavy frost. Nope, our first snow has arrived. It was still falling...very lightly.... a bit ago, and the temp is coming up. It won't last today. 36OAT, and 66 IAT after having a 4 split fire last night of 2 Pine and 2 Ash. Got another one going after debating whether to crank up the thermostat, or the stove. Stove won.
Good morning, sitting at 32 and clear with coffee and low 40's today. Stihl feeding junk maple (soft) tree trimmer wood to that greedy hungry beast out back.
Looks like we got about 7" last night. Chalk up another 45 minutes shoveling that heavy wet stuff. Anyone who thinks they are getting too much rain, let me tell you this. At least you don't have to shovel it! May have to pump it, but you're not doing that by hand either!
Woke up to -5 C (23 F) this morning and had a reload on coals. The snow from the other day melted, but can't say how long we'll be without. The general rule over the years seems to be snow on Halloween, it disappears, and the next time it falls, it's here for good.
-7c/19f at 9 am this morning and the house is 22c/71 inside. Im still working on coals from last night but will load er up with fir soon.
True, but we have been pumping it out of our cellars. And enjoying the peace and quiet brought on by the lack of power and cable. :-( Still a lot of people w/out power in New England, including me. Now the game is on to find a gas station with electricity and working pumps to fill the containers that fill the generator. Brian
We had 37 this morning so we've been burning shoulder season wood. It's 75 in the basement and 70 up here. We'll be putting in more shoulder season wood in this week, another two trailer loads.
Snow here too, Looked out and saw snow on the Jeep , nothing on grass or driveway , was 33 °F , 39 °F now burnin chunks
