It was - 16 this morning, two nice size splits of Beech on the bottom with the rest of the load being Cherry & Maple.
82 here. Stuffed 140lbs of well aged large split beech and locust into the stove saturday morning...will be burning just enough kwh after that is done to keep the pipes from freezing. In the meantime trying to not burn my ghost white self.
-6 right now with a wind chill of -13 (no wind to speak of) did some one mention this is getting old? Steady diet of Oak in the Plummit (new name for my Summit as I dont like it much)
It is currently 0° here. When I woke up it was -2, then it went down to -5, now it is moving in a more positive direction. Suppose to go all the way to 10° today!
We are already up to 11 degrees, started out at -4 degrees. Set the all time low temperature for march the 3rd this morning. The old one was -1 in 1960. Loaded up with 3 splits of Oak and 7 splits of hedge.
This is our forecast for tonight, the info comes from NOAA. Mostly clear, with a low around -17. Wind chill values as low as -26. Light and variable wind.
We have some nice Sugar Maple we'll throw at these temps, it's almost over so I won't complain. The sun is strong so the end is near, we'll just keep feeding the stove. The wood inventory is down but we still have plenty of seasoned wood ready if Mother Nature wants to go a few more rounds.
4:38 Am it was -11 F here, feels like -24. 5:16: -11 F, Feels like -26. Can't wait for the sun to rise. Supposed to be cloudy with some flurries, so not much solar gain, but at least the temps should stop falling. Our low was supposed to be -2. These temps are challenging re wood supply. Eagerly await the middle of the month when temps are supposed to approach normal...we'll see.
4 degrees just loaded with a large piece of Cherry, a piece or two of Walnut, and Oak. 74 degrees in the house.
Right at -8 on the back porch this morning. The Wood Gun is chewing up more Ash. Glad I had a lot of wood put up for the year!
Went down to 3° overnight. Used straight red oak. Got 5 good hours of heat. Still have to keep reloading around 3am.
-14.7 on the Radio Shack Special, not sure what we had for a windchill reading, more Sugar Maple today.
5 degrees this morning, loaded up with Sugar & Cherry. Tonight we start bringing in some Cherry, this is the last rack we planned on burning this year. Before Sunday we'll cover another 1.22 cord of wood, .61 of next years shoulder season and .61 of some dead elm I cut last year. It looks like the cold will stay in the Northeast until that last week of March.
