I've been to Nogales, my mil lives in tucson.. Wife n i went over to Mexico and bought a woven blanket and some pottery. Night and day.. on one side the middle class nice neighborhoods in the states, on the other, utter poverty..
It’s is hard to look at so much poverty my heart went out to them. It’s not hard to see why they try and sneak over. Shacks made of scraps from the dump. Pallet houses with cardboard in the cracks. Hard life.
Yup.. unreal we gave a couple bucks to a kid and soon other kids followed us in hopes they got some makes u hate their government for being so corrupt and letting drug lords rule the country. They are a very industrious and genuine people.. Happy trails man
Rope are your waterways freezing up or is it just snow on the ground still? It will be awhile for us before our water freezes.
This a pretty large lake yesterday morning. All non moving water is frozen the slow is mostly frozen and the rivers have a lot of ice floating and the are getting lethargic.
According to the forester that maintains the ice roads. In a recent conversation told me that in the still water colder than zero we make about1/4 inch an hour. The spring feed water is complicated. And color of the ice also a factor in strength. When the ice road goes in I will get pics of loads on the river. Ice is usually 40+ inches on the river
Interesting, thanks for sharing. I used to do ice fish guiding for awhile. My insurance wouldnt cover me with clients on river ice only still water lake ice. Incidentally Ive only broken through the ice on a river..... If I wasnt working so much this fall Id be fly fishing for trout before freeze up. Make hay while the sun shines I guess.
Respect for ice is important. I find the whole conversation about ice travel and strengths interesting.
Its 1c at the moment and Im at the end of a spruce load in the stove. Ill load it up soon with some mid grade wood to keep the chill off tonight. We had one of the windiest days I can remember around here. There are fires sparking up in Coleman Alberta as well as Airdrie due to intense winds and Im hearing about some evacuations. Gusts have been recorded at 100 km an hour. There were also a few deaths in a nearby town today.... so sad. I havent heard the names yet . Not sure if it was because of the wind or not but it seemed like there was lots of mayhem in the region. My son said he saw a tree had squished a truck in town today. Lots of green wood down out there Im thinking. It was definitely a two hands on the vehicle door kind of day.
I had an 04 6.0 liter f350 and spent a LOT of time under the hood, but once I got the bugs out it would rock and roll! Now I’m back in a gas 250
It's a very wild night here. 62°F / 17°C and the wind is gusting to 64 Knots / 74MPH / 119 Kilometers per hour. Average temperature for tonight is about freezing.
