About 42 here earlier this morning. Time to install some metal fascia on the camp so Mr. Red Squirrel and/or Racoons can't get in anymore. Those little .........
I had upper 20's this morning. Warming up to mid 30's now, but over the next few days (through Sat) highs will be in the 60! Good way to stretch out the wood pile, no?
Going down to the mid 30's. Looks like I may have to torch a few splits tonight. Probably cook some pine and cherry.
It was 41 this morning with a high of 42 today so I've been getting rid of some pine. It's 72 upstairs and 76 in the basement.
It's 55 right dropping down to 35 but supposed to go up to 60s and 70s this week, the house is 72 so no fire yet, if the house is cold in the morning, ill light a fire
First of the season tonight - white pine and a little hemlock were the cold's first casualties. Hate to run the boiler for just a couple days, but even at 66 inside, it's going town below 30 tonight and won't see much over 50 tomorrow, so fire it is.
Easiest scrounge ever for me. These bundles were on a table at a trail head no vehicle tracks in the snow no camping at that location and it looked lonely and in need of a good home.
I’m ready!! A buddy from work just sent me a pic of his stove burning at home and a few comments picking on me for being here and missing burn time!
Welcome Rope! Were a good group of people from all over who love talking stoves, wood and snow! oh yeah, cant forget the beer and our love for smoking meats!! What is the flat snow covered area in your picture? Is it a field? It kinda looks like its a river/lake that has frozen over. Seems early even for there but since Im not up there its hard for me to judge on the weather.
Weve gone from coldish to warmish, such is the fall weather flip flop. It was the windiest day today I can recall in a long time. Its warmed up to a balmy 7c today and its the first day without a hard frost in some time. I guess thats ok. Winter will be here again soon and will stay until spring. If anything I can save a bit of wood over the next few days!! Im doing an evening fire of spruce/lodgepole tonight... good enough for a day that doesnt need a strong response from my stove. The recent snows have stripped many of the trees of their leaves now. Larch trees are still pretty looking though.
