No fires at the house. Finally turned up the T-stat this morning once 99lbs got up for work. Gas furnace ran twice, then put it back into hibernation/sleep mode!

The cottage will have a fire in the 13 this evening though.....

Right where I want to be.
I knew it would be cool IAT this morning, but 61? Really?
    37 OAT at about 7am.
I made fire. :D Just a small one. In August. :hair::rofl:
Went to SisIL's for a couple hours, and when I got home my wife was saying she was chilly. IAT at 68.
    Just like GoT......Winter is Coming!
Oh, and SisIL finally got her 13NC flue done, so I put a new gasket on the door and a new baffle above the tubes......which was much more of a pita than the 30.
I made fire....again. It was warmer OAT, so it took a bit to burn well.

I thought that our first fire might come about the end of the third week of September, looking at the forecast this morning I'm thinking it will be earlier.

I was just saying a couple days ago that I'd like to wait until October this year. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:
    Then, there's reality.
Third week of Sept is usually when we start.

Laws of nature is true but yes, you can get frost at 35 degrees. It is called radiant cooling and this is why some surfaces will see the frost at those temperatures.

I did think about a fire this morning but we held off. Once the sun got higher it warmed up pretty good. Yesterday's high temperature was 64 and it looks like today's will be 71.

No fire here this morning. Made a batch of blackberry jam then the wife made two loafs of pumpkin bread and I made a double batch of chilli for tomorrow. Warmed the house up nicely.

When I was picking up some junk wood with the Mahindra, I noticed a f/c of pine & dead elm that I had topped covered about a month ago that was c/s/s last fall so I think we'll bring some in on Sunday for a fire.

We had 41 this morning, we might have a fire tonight just to get the temp back up in the basement. The temp is 63 in the basement with the humidity at 45.

Another 42 degrees t his morning here. Still no fire though. Our son kept the windows closed last night so that helped. I still considered building a fire but didn't. I'd like to wait until September and that is only a week away now.

If the weather keeps going the way it is, the stove will be in time out for awhile yet. Night times are hovering in the 10-15 C (50-60 F) range for the next couple weeks.

We had 2c this morning under clear skies but didnt look like we had any frost. My wife turned the furnace on for a spell this morning mainly because I left the windows open all night. At 10 am its up to 10c now on its way to 32c!

Well a couple things happened. Firstly it was closer to 18c in the evening so I wasnt to concerned and secondly I fell asleep on the couch watching the new netflix stephen king show the mist. We usually keep our windows open in the bedroom this time of year since its so nice to sleep cool but we usually close most of the others.

Not doing any indoor burning here yet.

    upload_2017-8-28_6-17-9.png

Smashed the record for 100+ days in Redding (55, set in 1988) and still going. Probably beat it by 2-3 weeks by the time it's done. "Warming" again at the end of the week, 111 again for Friday & Saturday. Fortunately, I don't live down there. Highs in the mid 90's here, seems almost chilly.
