Right around 0° this morning. Clear and cold. The boiler did a great job last night, again. I cleaned the exhaust pipe the other day from the ash cyclone to the outside cleanout at the bottom of the chimney. If I can I may have my chimney guy come out and clean the chimney from the top down on one of these really warm days coming the end of the week. If all the snow melts off the roof after the first day or two.
12 degrees here still sticking Oak and Hickory in the stove. Looking forward to a break in temps the middle of this week!
- 3 this morning back here in the Pines, Sugar Maple & Beech going at the moment. With the weather getting warmer this week I'll take the roof rake to the edge of the roof, it should open up the down spouts so we won't get much ice buildup.
It is 7 on the back porch right now. I just stuffed the boiler with White Ash and a couple pieces of Red Oak.
Must be a heat wave running through the lower part of the state. Were only going down to 10 above tonight. Much easier to heat this house now. Put in some oak, black birch and maple a few minutes ago.
Minus 22c=Minus 7.6f with hmmmm! lets see..Elm in the stove shoulda brought in some of the Locust yesterday but was finishing up a spare room reno and didnt get the chance. After today the temps are supposed to go way up with a rainy/snowy week ahead. Then cold again?
0 degrees here this morning....... I feel like I am in a haze just stuffing wood through my stove at this point.......they missed the high temp by almost 10 degrees yesterday( barely hit 28) and then they forecasted 15 last night and its a balmy 0 out there right now.
Rain = yesterday before I took off on the sled I did the edges of the roof with the roo I'm hoping they're wrong on our forecast for this Thursday night, .36 inches of ice. I was talking with my neighbor last night about how cold it's been, he's heated with wood all his life, he's 83. He said that he can't recall a cold stretch like this, he was worried about running out of wood but I think he has plenty.
This winter has been nuts! I hope for your sake they are wrong on the ice. We got ice a week or so ago and it was miserable. You have definitely had it worse temperature wise than we have.
It's been crazy cold, that's for sure. I'm just glad we don't heat with oil. We're looking for more snow so we can extend the snowmobile season.
Calling for more snow here Tuesday...LOL...Running out of room to put snow, inside wood supply dwindling and outside woodpiles buried....This wasn't in my plan...
Or Propane$$$$ My buddy across the road just had the truck in 'again' Saturday and said its the most money he has spent in 80 years and there is still a woodstove in the house being run as much as possible. I had full intentions of installing the same high efficiency propane furnace they had installed but thats not gonna happen in this house!!!
We have the propane fireplace so we don't use much, we hit - 18.4 this morning once the sun started to rise.
