40 here and rain damp in the house around 64 got to love the shoulder season wood Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Current temp 39°, our low for the night, but its damp with the rain. Loaded the Harman with birch and maple.
Breezy and damp today led to me feeling a slight chill, leading me to get a wee bit carried away burning in the Pacific Energy Summit, 25 C inside now - I blame the ugly!
After working outside all day in the 40's, I lit a fire in the basement stove this evening. Maple, oak, ironwood, is being offered up the flue!
2 c in the Rockies right now. Im in shorts sitting next to an evening burn of lodgepole pine. I may be done with overnight burns for the season at least of the good stuff. It will be a sad day when the stove goes dark and cold....
I know how you feel I get a little sad when done burning for the season and get excited when I get to start up again. I used to think I had a problem then I found this great group then I realized I'm not alonethere are more like me who love to cut split and hoard firewood and burn it can't forget about that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mid 30's right now with temps dropping throughout the day. This is a good thing as it enables the 3" of snow we're supposed to get to stick around for awhile....
Already sitting at +3 C and heading for +14 C ( about 36 F and 58 F) today. No fire this morning, just a blip of the oil furnace. I'll keep making kindling fires morning and evening as long as I can, as we're too used to the radiant heat. The oil furnace is like a bowl of rice, while the wood stove is like a steak.
got to 46 rain damp cool... after 20 hour raked out IS loaded with birch and popular on coals.. house warm stove shutdown and headed to bed.. love this stove in shoulder season! my hho heat is shut off and without Woodstove I would be cold and tough it out! but with stove Crack a window listen to peepers and yeah spring!
Could've lit another fire tonight, but decided against it. (Somethings must be wrong....) Maybe getting a little snow overnight. Have to take my weekly trip 1/2 way across the U.P. with maybe a detour deep behind the cheddar curtain tomorrow.
Current temp 46° headed down to 38° with rain moving in overnight. Loaded the oakleaf with a small batch of ash and birch.
Still doing a fire first thing in the morning to get the chill out of the house and that will last until the next morning.
We had 48 this morning so we burned the propane fireplace for about 10 minutes. I'm hoping the rain stops so I can grab two damaged Maples and also grab some early leeks for potato leek soup.
