40 here, will burn a fire of Ash for a few hours this morning until boiler and buffer tank up to 180. Then shut it down and repeat tonight.
37 windy and rainy. First fire for at least a week. Thought I'd be done really. It should run thru tomorrow and then probably not again....until next fall. Season totals: Wood burned: 1.75 cord or less of ash (new record low) Glass cleaned: once (new record low) Cleaned pipe:none (done pre season) Whiskers burned off dog: 3 (new record low) Hand burns: 0 (this is a first lmao) Times I got to laugh at neighbors with high bills to stay warm in a mild winter: uncountable
Thunderstorm coming thru and the temp has risen from 39ºF noontime to 50ºF right now. Pretty much had the stove going half loads of oak since 6:30 AM. Put a couple of pine splits in to take it to 9 but I think that's it for tonight. It's not supposed to get very cold again until Friday night. I've got 4 or 5 days of red oak left then I've got pine and maple or some white oak but I'd really like to save that for real cold weather.
It's 41 out with a forecast low of 38 so we'll burn another overnight fire with some cherry. They say we'll get another quarter inch of rain tonight, it's sloppy out there.
Current temperature is 38° which is also our low for the night. Loaded the oakleaf with ash and birch. It rained pretty much all day, supposed to be at least a half inch while central and southern N.H. will see 1"- 2" inches of rain. Just breezy here, but i can certainly hear the wind in the notches that gotta be 80mph.
Man oh man, that north wind is chilling you right to the bone. Couldn't stay outside that long! Ice is melted along the shoreline now and with todays wind, it's on the move. Not too much, but tomorrow it'll pick up a notch!
About 33 here with more rain. Boiler has Ash and Elm rounds in it but I shut it down just before bed. It and the big tank are up to 190. Will fire it back up first thing in the morning.
Holy cow! Upper teens this morning! Where the heck did that come from? Sure were mis-informed with the overnight forecast.....
Current temp 43° headed up to 45°. Put a small load of ash and birch in this morning. Enjoy your day everyone!
38 here, no fire, no heat. We're running errands so why bother, it's sweatshirt season and should get into the mid 50's, so no sense burning in that kind of a heat wave. It's the time of year for firewood processing now and that's where my mind is at. I traditionally stop burning mid April cause I'm getting wood and don't want to burn anymore of next years supply, call it yankee frugality. I'll probably light a shoulder season fire tomorrow AM for a couple of hours as we'll be home. I was at the store yesterday and quite a few folks were in shorts and flip flops already. I can hear the southerners shivering already.
Sitting on the deck as i write, shorts, watching old glory and a rattlesnake flapping in the wind. Can hear the brook flowing pretty good. Town trucks checking the road for washout.
what wrong with shorts and mudboots?? 40 is out still raining running fires at night to dampness out! seeing trees that need to be fire wood
Alright. One of your wives posted this picture when you were dreaming of firewood gathering. You guys from NH and VT!
Weather is silly warm here, +14 C (57 F) at the moment, and heading upwards of +20 C (68 F). We'll be breaking records today. Normal temps right now would be 24-44 F. I'm burning nothing at all.
Gettin' warm here for a few days. Had a small Oak split fire this am, and now it's 75 in here. Just typing is making me sweat. Jeesh. We didn't get the storm that was predicted yesterday. Sensationalism at it's finest. Anyway, looks like some yard duty (doodie) today, and prolly some shop time too. Might pull out the splitter tomorrow for the Spruce I got mostly cut up recently. Time will tell.
