its 40 now, been running on solar gain since mid morning. Even got to comfortably spend time on my enclosed porch today, which is my favorite part of the house

It was a beautiful day today, I got to watch the otters playing on the rotted ice on the lake. Yesterday one of the otters pulled out a pickerel as long as my arm!
Low of 30°F tonight. The usual mix of hardwood in the VC vigilante (sp)

I'll just drop the asterisk thing. Don't mind my odd humor. I just ate well, so it's probably gas that makes me say weird things. :fart:o_O

Let the stove go cold this afternoon. We'll see how cool it is in the house in the AM and/or if the boiler runs.
Supposed to stay just above 0ºC all night and every night all week. Maybe just some AM pine fires.

I thought the asterisk pun was good!

The ice at the cottage should be honeycombing this week sometime and then give way to wind. I had to bust up some sheets that were thrusting up a bit too close for comfort to the dock system. Didn't want any damage.

No otters yet this year for us, but two years ago....we had 'em.

She finds it gets a bit to hot maybe? My wife is the same way. Every year in the spring she comes to me and says that we have to talk about the temperature in the house and how maybe a few less splits can go in the stove. After the talk I tend to curb my burning a bit. :emb:

We had a typical spring day today. Lots of wind, intense snow squalls and in between that periods of calm winds and sunshine! Visited the nursery today for the first time this year. Also noticed on the southern exposure garden up against the house the garlic is sticking out of the ground half an inch. The rest of the yard is still buried in snow. Im in shorts in front of the stove with some lodgepole keeping me toasty. Currently 0c.

Current temp 23° headed up to 47° today. We'll let the stove go cold until tonight. Bunch of turkey feasting outside in the bare areas.

The snow in our yard is just about gone. the snow from the roofs melted free and clear last week....Fri I think it was all gone!

Fire pit at cottage is ready for use once more.

Last nights temps dropped only to the upper 30's!!!!!

Sounds good yoop. With the temps in the middle 50's today and about three inches of rain by Saturday, we should have a big frickin mess but the snow should be gone.

Glad to see the snow go, but 99 sure hates spring as far as the mess goes! You still have a lot of white in your pics and with the rain on its way....:picard:

Got to 66°'today. Haven't burnt in a few days now. We must be expecting a lotta rain tomorrow because I saw they were letting out water from the reservoir to the river at twice its normal flow. It's gonna be mucky around here.
