We were at 3 degrees about two hours ago, just checked, we're at 12 degrees. A small load of Sugar Maple tonight.
Yeah, it's been warming up the past couple hours here too. 15° at the moment. Storm is bringing up warm air from the south. Supposed to start snowing real soon.
27 and started sleeting around 6. I like snow but hate sleet. About 8-9 inches on the ground. Gonna have to get on the tractor and plow and check the animals.
The weather channel app says todays Hi=34, Lo=22. Only problem is that it is 7 now?! I'm getting the hang of my stove now, much time with a IR thermo and notepad. I had it at 72 last night, and it was 63 this morning, shoveled out the dead coals, kicked the live ones around, tossed in a couple of smalls and we're off to the races. Now if only it would warm up and I can get some of the vehicles out of my driveway, I wanna go get some wood!!!
Currently 20 F heavy snow. Bringing up extra wood, blizzard conditions with the wind. Loading oak and ash, and keeping her running.
29° right now and snowing like it's never gonna stop! They upped us to 14-20 inches before it's all over. Then some more on Saturday. Looks like the Farmer's Almanac was spot on this year.
It's snowing here but I am closer to the coast they are calling for up up to 11 inches in my area....Stay in and stay safe and warm....
This storm that was projected not to go north of Albany just keeps moving further and further North and west. Latest projections show it as far west as the beginning of lake Ontario, curving up through Ottawa, with up to 4 inches in the area. But there is really heavy snow fall from just N of NYC up through Albany and the Berkshires...heavy wind too. Hope it stops moving NW. It is presenly intensifying off Virginia beach. Forecast is for some areas to get up to 5 inches an hour. And another big storm is right behind it, coming from the West this time. I'm guessing our snowfall from this storm is in addition to the small snowfall environment Canada has been projecting for us Thursday night through Friday. Have no idea if the two systems will merge, or if one will keep the other out.
It was up to 34º today....I was ready to take a dip in the creek. teens tonight....have some cherry and elm in the stove now.
22 degrees here, still feeding the Liberty some beech, sugar maple with some cherry. After this last rack of our better hardwood is gone we'll be back burning cherry, just under 1.2 cord of cherry left for this season. After this storm is done I'll cover one rack of next years shoulder season wood, if we need to burn that, so be it.
Yikes. That is not what I wanted to hear. But they are now saying 4-8 inches for us on the St. Lawrence River area. Woodlands, here comes some of that snow you wanted! Glad for you and the snowmobilers.
How much on average do you put aside per season? I've been digging into next years oak during these extreme temps. With storm after storm expected in the next week, I expect above average usage. There were many timees this year I just kept feeding the yotul.
We are buried at the moment. Snow too deep now for any riding on quads..... Never got a chance to clear any trails. Hard as a rock back there now
Ya. If we get more than 4" I won't be going in with the tractor anymore. There are some spots if I break through the ice layer underneath I am up to the front axle. Most of the time I have been beating down a trail and staying up on top of the ice layer. Oh well. Suppose to get near 40 by the end of next week. So we will see some melting sooner or later. Then I will be able to get back at it.
