63 hear with rain gessed at for later. low 70's yesterday, I let the Greedy Hungry Beast go cold yesterday.
Sitting just above freezing, with a slight drizzle. Am lazy this morning so I'm burning dinosaur juice.
40ºF, no sun, no solar gain. Cold front just went thru, supposed to chill a little. From last night, Put off getting a burn going again until mid-afternoon. Red Oak. Got some nice sized splits for overnite.
We're sitting at 37 with a low of 17 tonight so we'll throw some cherry in the liberty. I'm hoping this coming week with the warmer temps and the rain we get rid of enough snow that the lane to the downed wood opens up for the rhino.
It's in the mid thirties here. So I ran out of this years wood which was mostly ash with a little oak and sugar maple. Had to break into next years which is mostly ash and American elm. Never burned elm before but I'm getting cooked out of the house here! Maybe it's just my imagination but it seems to burn hotter and longer than ash, even though they're pretty similar on btu charts. Into high 50's and 60's starting tomorrow so probably just have a fire in the mornings on the weekends and one in the evening after work.
Just fed the OWB after emptying some of the ashes. Took a look at the yard and the snow is 1/2 gone! The roofs are almost clear, and the sun came out just long enough to set....well, the only reason we saw it was because it was finally lower than the clouds!
Up to 80 here today....haven't put wood in the Buck since Thur. night. Out to dinner today and to the flea mkt. Sitting here with coffee and the windows open. Looks like no fire until maybe Wed. night.
I changed my mind on the wood for the overnight load, we still have some sugar maple and yellow birch inside so we load the liberty up with that. We still have two bags of pellets here at the house but we'll save those, we've only burned 48 bags this year. We might drop below 10 tonight.
24, heading for 40. Hopefully the ground stays firm enough to get a few scrounge loads into the processing area today.
We had 17 this morning so over coffee I loaded the liberty up with cherry. With the rain coming in we decided to put in more cherry firewood today.
